You may be right but how many 20d users are actually Professionals that earn a living from photography. Most of them are concerned about depreciation values. So they will sell first at beter prices than selling at cheaper prices later on. As you can see, most of them are asking for $1,900 and above. Do you think that they can sell at this price once the new model hit our shore at ~ $3,000? That's life of owning digital cameras unless you are real Pro who may see no need in upgrading to newer models.

You sure pro huh? Thought if pro, asset like that can be write off just like computers...

I don't get you. :dunno:

Some Pros do own 20d but they can choose either to continue to use it or upgrade to the next model based on their needs / cashflow, etc.

As for others who are hobbyists, newbies, etc, they tend to worry about depreciation values, right?

let me clear the air a bit, if you are a working pro, and your camera accidently falls off 5 story building, along with its lens and was broken into bits and pieces, what you you do? get another set either from insurance or factoring the cost into depreciation and or insurance costs.

working pros do not really care about the latest gadgets, they get what works for them in their business module. if it takes you 10 jobs just to get your one camera, you are better of doing something else.

Canon DLSR new line-up (Speculated but more like a wish list)

1Ds Mk II upgrade to 1Ds Mk III (FF 22mp, 2.5 LCD higher and faster buffer)

20D - 50D (1.6x 10mp with pop-up flash)

350D - 500D (1.6x 8mp very competitively priced)

New model 3D with Eye-control FF 12mp

Actually if enough people write to Canon, it might just happen :)

I agree with you, thats why we should help hobbyist by educating them.

What's depreciation if user dun sell his tool? If a person have a car that cost $70,000, In 10 years, the car will be a worthless car to most people, but if it can still bring the person from place to place, its still a good working car to that person. Hence, still worth what he paid for.

Save the money to do or get something else. Dun do unneccessary upgrade.
