TS, just take it easy, it is true that personally don't like the way some mob replying.
But in it case, i felt that the mob is doing the right thing and i second the way he reply.
The reply from the mob,
"consider what is worth putting up for critique before making a post, each member is only allowed 1 picture per week."
Maybe the words "what is worth" trigger your unhappiness, because the image is your 1 week old son, and as a father, you felt insulted and you are eager to improve fast and shoot more.
The word "worth" to me is actually, do you actually self-critique the image first before posting.
Let quote a example,
I posted a photo in C&C
feedback is not sharp.
I quickly retake and repost
feedback is lighting not good
I quickly retake and repost
feedback is composition not good.
I quickly retake and repost
feedback is not sharp again
I quickly retake and repost.......there is no ending and that is not the way to learn.
Photography is an art and it also involve technical knowledge, it can't be rush.......
Read the manual, blush up your technical knowledge, read up some book on children photography (alot in Riceball), look at others photograph and most important, shoot more, do self-critique, and in no time, you will improve and create you own style. This is the way to learn, there are no shot-cut.
