That means mine and jOhO's cam is out? :(

ahahah er.. not with an sb80 on top and bernies ure8 to 72mm on~~

i get strangers coming up to me (at tourist spots) and say "u must be a pro, can u help us take photos?"

after recovering from choking on my saliva, i gladly proceed to assist them...

Is FujiFilm 602Z considered powerful?

Is FujiFilm 602Z allowed?

 That means no white L lens? :(
Later they mistake me for stealing a small missile. :D

Are we allowed to go near the planes?

Most likely I'll just bring a TLR there... so have to stand closer.

I will probably go.... I think they are not gonna be so strict so long as you do not shoot the cockpits and wonder off to sensitive areas. BTW at one of the Asian Aerospace I was allowed to shoot the cockpit of an F/A-18, so I guess to the Americans its no big deal. Besides a lot of the top secret stuff is in the software. Oh yeah, I also shot the bridge of a visiting aircraft carrier before and peered into its radar scope and sat in the captain's chair. So... its all relative. DO what its allowed.

Anyone knows if the F-16 C/D with the humpback will be on display!?
:D

Wonder what the contingency plan for rain is like. Weather's been bad the past few days.

Heard that this coming weekend, Paya Lebar Air Base is having an open house. Once every 2 years.

It will be good opportunity to try my close up shots of the military gears & hardware.

Anyone going ?

me!

any idea if there are any shuttle service from nearby MRT station?

Just to remind you, you cannot bring along 'powerful telephoto' lens.
That's the restriction.

I don't think you'll be allowed to take pictures during the Runway Cycling other then the Air Photo Unit's authorised camera man.

Last month I was back in PLAB for reservist, they're still coming down hard on people with camera phones and such. So best is not to take any photos inside, you know government is always very particular about having their photos taken :bsmilie:

are u EJB ?

150mm??

include 1.6x FLM or not??

Dear Browsers,

Have merged the 2 threads 'Air Force Open house' & 'Air Force Open house' as it is of the same topic.

Thanks,

Hi there people!
Just came back from the open house preview for SAF personnel.
So here are some of my thoughts and tips:

When you enter the camp, there'll be RPs doing their inspection. All bags willl be x-ray scanned, but not for cameras (you let them inspect visually.) Digital multiplier on DSLRs not counted. Bet that the RPs over there are not CS-ers. :D

They will check your lenses' focal length as well.
Mine was a 24 - 85G (which was sadly very insufficient. :()
Then you will enter the place, where a lot of airplanes are displayed.
There'll be a display parade which will have all the airshows.

I went there at around 3pm, and I left when the thing ended at about 6pm.

The most 'spectacular ' airshow would be the one at 5pm, where some fighter jets + cargo planes (pardon me, I have absolutely no idea what the names are, but I think there are some F16s.) will have a mock exercise carried out. This is the main highlight, so as to speak.

My shots were very bad, as firstly, I didn't have any telephoto lenses (and we can't bring them in as well.)

BUT the cameras that I had seen were:

Fuji S2 Pro + 70 - 300mm ED
F80 with 28 - 105
2 x EOS 3 with some telephoto lens (looks big)
Nikon Coolpix 5700

They were from the public, as when they were questioned by a MAJ which unit they were from, they replied that they were from the public.... Not sure if they are from CS, but hey, if you guys are, let me see your shots! :D

There's free shuttle bus from Eunos MRT station (you can't miss it), but if you want to take transport, take bus 94. Stop at the Air Force Museum.

But despite my lens limitation, I had a heck of a time shooting, as I learned quite some things once again. Finally I know how Continuous Mode + Dynamic AF works! (BTW, I'm a Nikonian.)

That's all!
Will try to answer your questions...

SNAG, do you think FujiFilm 602Z is allowed?

Well...
Try your luck loh.
I'm not even sure as to how these telephoto stuff got into the place as well.

Use your brains to think how to bring them in... :)

what s gonna happen to my camera if it s not allowed ?
must deposit it somewhere?

can anyone suggest, how to sneak camera to the RSAF Open House?
