i.e. Wild Weasel type of mission, strikes against AA, missile and radar sites.
chgoh

this is known as SEAD (Surpression of Enemy Air Defense).

If you look at the F16Ds closely, they are the type that have got the advanced Israeli avionics installed. Not many countries have these in their F16s.
chgoh

we're the only one other than Israel to have it. apparently caused quite a commotion amongst the flight mag journalists during the rollout at the factory.

actually we also have the F16A/B, the earlier purchases. A = single seat, B = tandem. But I think only the C/D or perhaps only the D has the extra spine-mounted avionics.

The modified D model with the dorsal spine is known as the Barakeet in Israeli service.

The Apache Longbow the RSAF uses is designated the WAH-64D as it was built by Westland in England.

The UH-1H is officially designated the Iroquois. But it is commonly known as the Huey or Slick.

I dunno where you guys where in your NS time or if the info you provide are public domain, but I don't think it's wise to discuss at lengths on such info, esp. some of it by chgoh, hwchoy and skyflash are pretty sensitive.

Dude, it _is_ public domain.

Just run a google search. You can find out more than you need to know.

I'm sure the info is public domain.

Anyway, if you have not been to PLAB on Sat or Sun, although there was xray checks and all the other kinds of security, anybody could go into the airbase and look at the aircraft and sit in the cockpits too!

I'm sure there were many interested ppl that were not Singaporeans! :bigeyes:

I like the new nikon 20-5000mm 2.8 hehehehe

Don't think it is necessary to be the CJ/DJ to be LANTIRN capable. when I was "flying" the F16-C, ahem, in the Janes' USAF simulator, it could mount the LANTIRN pod :p

darkness: Dude! Its all public domain and published in various aviation magazines!
:D

Anyway, RSAF is one of the better "small" air forces in the region.

mobiledeath: BTW, I make models too =) Any chance to see ur walkaround pics???
;)

IIRC only the Block 50/52 F-16s are LANTIRN capable.

sure thing. let me get my angelfire up first

Whooo
i ve missed the cute pilotz..

is that an AGM-65 hanging from the A4-SU?

I like these pictures. Great work joho.

mobiledeath & skyflash: Its a sparrow AIM. Notice the larger forward fins.....
Would have been nice to see the AMRAAM too... Also noticed the dorsal spine includes what looks like flare and chaff dispensors on either side....
And the Sidewinders are the earlier models with the cranked fins.

ANd Oh! On the chinook engine shot, I noticed a painted over serial number.... hmmm... I thought we bought these guys brand new!? :o

mobiledeath: So you planning to build this babe?
:D

which babe? the Barakeet? right now doing a production (ugh) F-22A. Maybe buy the RSAF decals for this one...

The Barakeet will be a future project due to the high cost of the model. Unless Storm Domain brings one in...

I think one of the captions on the pics asked why the F5 is called an F5 and why ppl like to use the letter. Here my take on the letters that accompanies US military aircraft.

F = figther
C = cargo
H = helicopter
A = attack
E = electronic
K = tanker

F-16, F-5 = fighters
A-4S = attack fixed wing
AH-64D Apache = attack helicopter
C-130 = cargo plane
E-2C = eletronic aircraft
KC-135 = tanker cargo

chgoh

To add:

U = Utility

Eg: UH-1H (Utility Helicopter)

skyflash: Right! I see the blue inert labels! =)

mobiledeath: Wow a RSAF F-22A... if only... Yeah the babe refers to the barakeet, the hump back falcon. Which scale / brand are you building?

Btw, anyone can get trade visitors pass to asian aerospace? Is it like coming next year?

OK to add more:
B = Bomber
F = fighter
C = cargo
H = helicopter
A = attack
E = electronic
K = tanker
R = Reconnaissance
U = Utility
X = Experimental

Eg: UH-1H (Utility Helicopter)
F-16, F-5 = fighters
RF-5 = reconnaissance fighter
X-29 = experimental
A-4S = attack fixed wing
AH-64D Apache = attack helicopter
C-130 = cargo plane
E-2C = eletronic aircraft
KC-135 = tanker cargo
