Hi, could anybody tell me which model of Rolleiflex is the one in the picture that I enclose? Im interested in Rolleiflex from the 50´s.
TQ very much in advance.

Lot Detail - James Dean's Rolleiflex Camera, Tripod and Case Circa 1954

Looks like a rolleiflex 3.5E , need a big pic to confirm.

Serial number would be helpful in determining the exact year.

its james dean´s photographer camera...so impossible to know that. But sure must be before 1955 model.

Would it not be natural for you to ask the person behind the bid?
If he cannot tell you, when he has the camera, then he is hopeless.
Ask what model and what serial number.

It seems to be a fake auction - that is, the camera is not the one owned and used by James Dean.

The TLR shown in the auction may be a Rolleiflex 3.5 E2 that was first made in 1959 which is 4 years after James Dean died.

The camera that James Dean was photographed using looks like a Rolleiflex 3.5 made around 1953 or 1954.

Hello,

I think the model is a 3.5E1 circa 1956-1959
Antique and Classic Cameras

The leather case is for cameras the use alligator clip strap, which are present only in E and later models.

The lack of a logo on top of the viewing hood means its not a changable hood, hence probably not a 3.5E2 or later.

I guess the item might not be as described

but james dean died in 1955 bro...

Ah, what I meant was that the camera is probably not as advertised - not the one used by james dean.

The cameras in the three photos are of two models. the first two are K4A (3.5A), made around 1951. the last one is K4B, made around 1953, i think.

And this is supposedly the latest: "2013 new version* Rollei Rolleiflex 2.8 FX-N 6x6 TLR w/S-Apogon, close focus to 55cm." Not a Rollei Wide, but takes Bay IV filters

Better than the classic 2.8F or not I'm not sure, but sure looks more ugly!

BTW, that famous eBay seller from HK is listing one on eBay now, price is US$5,999 only. :bsmilie:

There are many more like this, with various colours. Price about USD8000.

For those who do now know where to spend money.

The 2013 model seems uglier than the Rolleiflex Aurum. But maybe it has better metering technology.
Then again, people get used to something and begin to like it. So the 2013 model may catch on with modern users.

As for the fake auction, well con-men do try. Some where out there is a sucker. It is statistical.

That's why scammers send you emails telling you all sorts of investment nonsense.
