i have a rode video mic. Bought it a year ago at sim lim. I cant remember the shop name but its the only shop beside the escalator that sells lots of mic. I think its in the 3rd floor. Anyway, i bought it for ard 100 bucks that time. its the cheapest in simlim.

the rode Video mic and stereo mic have two different functions. the video mic is more of a shotgun mic while the stereo mic is usually used for capturing sound from all angles. like in a concert hall. the video mic is better for dialogues. have a read, there are lots of comparisons for the mics.

R u sure $100 or high $100? u r refering to Hung brothers at the 3rd flr.. They r the only dealer is SG and the price is going for about $170 now. bro Spunik should chk out the current price den.

nah, should be around lower 100 from what i remembered cause my budget was 150. maybe 170 is inclusive of deadcat?? wanted to buy deadcat but found out that such a furry thing cost quite a bit. there are other shops at simlim that sells the rode vm also. you have to walk at the alleys behind the main walking area. but they sell way more expensive than the one i bought from. anyway, its been a year. only way to find out is to go sim lim.

oic.. those probably parallel importers. Cuz the authorised disty told me only Hung bros r selling. Yeah 150 prob ok ba.. i got it for 175 leh..

just checked last week. hung bros selling for $180 before GST. some other shops in SLS quoted $185 to $200. JFYI, rode mic comes with standard windshield foam. deadcat is a separate purchase item altogether.

anyone knows how much a deadcat for the rode mic will cost at SLS?

the rode videomic is mono but has a stereo plug fitted so that you get sound on both channels. it's about $180 (+/- $10)

the rode stereo videomic is true stereo. it's about $330 - $350

either mic will look overly large on your HV-20.

wow.. the stereo is steep! its a little heavy compared to the mono VM.

thanks for all the tips on the videomic

from what i heard.. videomic (mono) is a very good mic for the price ...
esp for documentary type of video that i'd be doing ...

engr: pick up the mic from you when you get back
