Rode Smartlav direct connect to DSLR

Hi video gurus. Need your advice here. I helping a client to do some simple interviews with better audio quality. Heard about the rode smartlav and find it suitable for my basic usage. Was told the smatlav is only suitable for use on smartphones for audio. Is it possible for direct connection to DSLR to record the audio directly?

I'd had wondered the same thing, here's an answer I read on another forum:

The SmartLav is a TRRS plug and will not work with a normal 3.5mm TRS connector on external recorders and cameras. A TRRS to TRS adapter don't work either, because the mic is powered by the +2.7V bias from newer iOS/Android devices.

EDIT: Apparently there IS an adapter available on the amazon market that works. In his similar video youtube user beuster{se} posted the link to the german amazon site. I was able to find the same article also on amazon dot com. Here is the abbreviated link

cable's not long enough either. you'd need to extend it first.

Besides rode smartlav anyone has other products to recommend. Was scouting funan and peninsula for this thing but all informed smartlav no stock. I happened to see the rode video mic go which is very affordable. Is it suitable for doing interviews? The venue is most likely to be in a controlled environment without background noise

I have the ATRR3550. But the inputs is so so only.

I think if u get a H1 at $130 and run a cable direct into the DSLR, u get crisp sound....

Hi JacePhoto, thanks on the intro of the H1. Did some research and find that the H1 maybe a better choice as it provides more options. You know where I can get the H1 locally?
