haha yeah can! i was appointed photographer for my detachment. but that aside, cameras are allowed for overseas training, just that you can't publish the sensitive ones. :)

wow... times have changed! :)

Really good shots. I like all 4.
Jealous that when I went to Shoalwater Bay training area, DSLRs were expensive and not common, and we weren't allowed to bring cameras anyway.

Your photos are too small...! :) Hard to appreciate properly.

Thanks for your appreciation and for that comment. I think it looks acceptably sized to me cos I'm using a low resolution monitor :bsmilie: Made them larger!

nice shots!

i been to wallaby as NSF... haven't had the chance to start my reservist proper yet... hopefully if i do return to wallaby, get to do rebro on a hill then can take some shots haha

where did u store your stuff? did you take it outfield or shots only from one of the two camps?

So wat detachment were you in :P

I went with the air force under the sensor detachment aka radar crew ;p

I brought all my stuff along in a nat geo medium sling bag! Been to many places but most of the landscape pictures are from either camp growl or hill 122. :) Thanks for your comments!

Here are a few more pictures! :)

#4 is a great shot! the crop is effective, though probably i think u can still afford abit more room over the top.

great colors for the sunset in #6 although a bit too much space for me. over the skies. A symmetrically placed sun might work as well.

I always remembered the training area as having one of the nicest sunset. Nice

Looks more like holiday/photography trip than military exercise :)

#5: I would have preferred a slightly tigher crop, to reduce the blackness at the top, whilst maintaining the same aspect ratio
#6: I prefer the sun in its present position on the right 1/3 of the photo. Nice clouds!
#7:

4) Sunset over Rockhampton

This is a great shot. I usually don't ask this question, but what lens could have gotten you this perspective? Not the 17-50 right?

Thanks for the suggestions! I agree with the comment on #4. Did some re-cropping to show a little more of the top. :)

I'm not sure about #6 though. I did think about placing it symmetrically though, but there's a hill on the right that'll force me to use a longer focal length to exclude it from the picture. Thanks for that suggestion though, will certainly try it if I have the opportunity nexttime :bsmilie:

Yes very! I've never seen sunsets to beautiful before. I'm gonna import and edit some pictures of a coastal sunrise soon. :) Thanks for dropping by!

Nice shots.

Thank you! :)

I used the longest lens I had, which is the Sigma 70-300mm f4-f5.6. And I'm using a Canon 1000D which gives a 1.6x crop factor. What you see is actually a 100% crop heh

Thanks for the compliments bro!

Very beautiful shots you took. I went for Wallaby last year, but didn't bring my camera though =( I'd be sure to bring it if I get to go again during reservist. And you used a 1000D! shows that you don't a need a high-end camera to take nice pictures.

I am an ex-regular who had the fortune to visit SWBTA 18 times, but never did I realised this place can be so beautiful. U did a great job in brining back fond memories. Thanks.

>>>BTW, can I ask from which site did u took the milky way pic from? PM me is it involves GTI names. Tks
