its not about the fps, its about the timing you take during the fireworks.

Disable Noise Reduction or whatever it is called in Nikon language.
Then you will notice that the interval between each shot will be reduced.
Your camera or any camera can get you a good shot when shooting fireworks, just keep shooting.
1. Don't get too greedy and long exposure for too long since Marina Bay very small so overlapped fireworks equals overexposed.
2. Always watch for the upwind direction to avoid smoke in your eyes and your lens.
3. The smoke is your friend, you don't have to avoid them totally when there is little room to maneuver. Use them as an effect as lowing the levels will reduce the colors of the background city lights too.

Hmmm... I had a 9 sec exposure. (too greedy, noob) it took a good 3-4 secs of writing.

Wow... Very new about settings. I will try to keep shooting.

Thanks for both your advices. I will remember them.

Thanks again. Appreciated the knowledge too.

Cheers.

ani idea will the the giant merry go round and other rides still be there until 13 feb?

upz for thread.
anyone knows the timings for the chingay fireworks? :)

According to the PUB website:
Kallang Basin/ Marina Channel will be closed to all marine traffic from 1800hrs to 2300hrs on 11 and 12 Feb 2011 for the fireworks display.

So i guess it will happen in between that time la.. Perhaps similar timing to the opening of river hongbao.. Between 7.30 to 8pm ? Hopefully will not be too late.

Anyone knows where the loc for the fireworks ? will it be the same as the river hongbao ? Anticipated wrongly last week and my best shot of the fireworks was sort of cut off...

its at the f1 pit building side, according to the map at that link..
dont think there's much of a background.. :(
7:30 is still quite bright, so hopefully they'll have the sense to hold back..

bring nite vision gear if u've problems spotting it in the dark.. ;)

it's for chingay on 11 and 12 feb at the F1 Pit Bldg.
chingay starts at 8.30pm on 11 feb and 8pm on 12 feb.
don't think the fireworks will be launched so early.

Ya, was thinking of the same thing. If it starts at 8.30 tomorrow nite, then the fireworks will start lk ard 9-9.30 , assuming the parade start on time and it takes ard 45 mins for it to reac f1 pit.
This is the game we have to play, the waiting game =)
Cheers

Any suggestion for good spot to shoot the fireworks?

Dug up last year's photos, it seems Chingay starts at around 7.30pm
Fireworks appear at around 9.15pm onwards in a few sessions.
Not sure if it is useful.

hi folks, can advise what time do the River HongBao stage performance start daily?

Please share your photos in the respective gallery sections, and not here. Thanks for understanding. ;)

Thread closes since event over. :)
