How difficult is focussing with the GXR? I am planning to get the Zeiss Biogon 35mm to pair with the GXR. I have a NEX 5N, but saw the comparisons with the GXR and found the GXR images to be better a lot better..

Hi, do you already have the GXR? Sound like you have. What other manual lens have you tried on 5N and GXR?

Any comments on how well manual focus works? I don't have the GXR.

I was asking to see if you have already tried manual focus on 5N. Then can take reference from there. I came from 5N. When first switch over, I was struggling with the manual focusing on GXR. Better now. Personally still think that it's easier with 5N. Firstly Sony EVF is way better. Secondly, you can choose white, red and yellow for the peak focusing. Only white on GXR. It's almost useless on white walls :(

There is another mode of focus assist on GXR (mode 2, search some videos on internet). I am using it most of the time now. Hit rate is better.

This is just my personal experience. There are people on other forums like the GXR focus assist more than Sony.

Still, it's the GXR's color and the body that draw me over ;)

I have a 5N, so I think I can visualize what you are talking about. Have you tried your M mount lenses on the 5N? Is the sharpness acceptable? The GXR does not have AA filter so I guess it will always be sharper.

Second wstam experience, similar to him have both. 5N is the best manual focus mirrorless body now imo, sunny weather LCD, high res evf, better focus peaking than gxr, and one touch spot magnify. Though, some things work for me better on gxr: skintone colors, vivid colors and no color shift with uwa lens. There's still slight color shift when using voigtlander 15mm on 5N. Surely u can pp, but I'm too lousy at that;)

New zoom lens about to be announced ! Rumored to be 24-80mm....I pray it's gonna be aps-c a12 sensor...

Please check ur own sources! I got my info from photo rumors.

Sorry for not checking back. Yes, I have tried some of the M mount lenses on 5N. The sharpness is definitely acceptable. I didn't pay much attention to compare the two in term of sharpness, I don't think there is much difference between 5N and GXR. 5N will make up with it's good 16M pixels. 5N definitely has it advantages. The photo is "cleaner". The details in the shadow is very good and the dynamic range is wider. I found that I can pull out a lot of details from the shadow. But somehow I like the "richer" color that the GXR produces. While I often tweak a bit the 5N photos in PP, I hardly do that on GXR photos. They look just right to me. Well, this is just me. Others may have different opinions.

Update on the zoom lens...will be launched early 2012..but u noe ricoh's idea of early... Lol

Btw can we fit canon or nikon lens on the A12 m mount? Very noob question but I had to ask...

Oh Lord... It's 16MP... Why couldn't they... sigh.. I guess we now know there will likely be an update in the near future.

Yes for Nikon D lenses, just need a Nikon F-mount to Leica M-mount adaptor, not sure if anyone sell adaptor for Canon lenses though.

Is it this one:

More info here:
KIPON begin to sell 9 models for new RICOH GXR lens interchangeable camera-KIPON adapter

Looks like Ricoh GXR has some attractions from 3rd party :)

Yap, if you don't want to wait for delivery, you can get it from Chiif's shop at excelsior.

Sharing a photo taken with ZM 18mm. It really demonstrates the amazing DOF of a UWA lens. Can't remember the F stop used. Am amazed with the sharpness from where I stand all the way to the coastline at far end.

Chiif doesn't have the M mount adapters yet I think. He probably will bring in some, given time.

I bought from him last week, may be the last piece. He said will bring in more after xmas.
