Ricoh GXR!

The NEX 5n no doubts has a better sensor, but from what I have seen so far, you get slightly better light falloff/vignetting control with the GXR+M combo.

yes, from stevehuff comparison Nex 5n is better for UWA RF lenses than Nex 7 in terms controlling color shifts, while ricoh looks excellent. My 5N does exhibit slight magenta on one of the corners.
And as far as I see and hear, I do like skintone of GXR better, which is important for me. however, dun really subscribe to buying a sensor for every module, so will still stick to m43 for AF lenses

SLRR: 1150 (gxr+m kit) +250 (vf2). i thinking to give up on my 5n...

Hi Wong, are you saying that Slr has stock (gxr+m+vf) on Fri? May drop by to check out. Do you happen to know the price at Parisilk? Tks for the info.

yes, tmrw. but no stock for vf. u might want to call them to book it? parisilk is +$30 for gxr+m, vf is same price as SLRR. stocks coming in tmrw as well, and they have vf2.

Thanks for the info.

I am also using 5N with various manual lenses presently. One thing that frustrates me is the lack of lens info in EXIF. I understand that in GXR+M, we can preset a list of names of lenses in the camera. By setting the names after changing the lens, the info will be recorded in EXIF. Anyone of you using this feature? How practical is this feature? Thanks.

Haha, now putting my Pana setup for sale liao. Now see how soon can I get the GXR with the two A12 lensors. M-mount will wait later. Sure hope Ricoh will consider releasing a A12 tele lessor.

Saw the prices over at TKFoto and slightly more expensive than Parisilk and SLRR. Hmm...

Just tested Sony OLED EVF. Compare to Ricoh VF2... I would say it is not a 100% winner (in my subjective opinion). It is doubtless bigger, indeed the view size is huge.. if comparing to VF2 side by side, it would roll over VF2 right away. But the impact is not as great if u don't put them side by side and the point is about usability and not about infinite size, so Vf2 has a usable size and Sony has even more.. period.

In terms of sharpness, surprisingly it is still not as sharp as VF2... it is slightly sharper than Sony previous EVF, but still have that netting look, black outlines between the pixel sets that creates the netting effect over the displayed image, howbeit it is very very faint... but it is still there.
I can only guess it is the prize of having the huge display size.

In terms of color... OLED is well know for its vivid color and is no surprise that it is doing great under strong sun light while VF2 tend to be a bit wash out. But i don't like the color on skin tone, too vivid... I still prefer the VF2's neutral and glowing skin tone.

So i am glad that VF2 still bear the distinct Ricoh trademark, like all their cultist products, they have never been the fastest nor most advance in the market, but they always bear a niche that set them apart from the competition and keep its followers panting for more ;p

Just gotten the GXR + A12 50 macro from a bro and the A12 28 from TKFoto today. The camera sure feels good in hand and can't wait to bring it to shoot.

Just got my gxr+m module from Alan photo,funan...surprisingly I got it cheaper than I expect...wooohooo!!

Hi, picked up the GXR + M module and the VF2 today. Coming from doing manual focus on Sony 5N with its EVF, I ready struggling here. Still haven't got the right feel. Other than that, I like this body a lot. Make 5N feels like toy. Also like the color.

I appreciate any advises from anyone here. How do you fair with the manual focus? Any tips? I will try mode 2 focus assist tomorrow to see if it's better. Which do you use? Thanks.

Some photos taken today below. Actually discarded most of them due to OOF :(

Biggest challenge is shooting people on street. Most people are OOF. This is a better one but still off. I am not good at street photo.

Thanks.

@wstam.. the picture you have here looks ok with focus. And the colors are exactly what I typically see straight out of the cam.

I have set Fn1 to Focus Assist. And Fn2 to Enlarge all. I usually use the Fn2 for really specific focus point.

Shoot more and you'll get the hang of it soon enough!

I use the same setting , focus assisted mode 1 is usually on, end I enlarge with F button when needed.
I get along with this very well, much better than with my NEX before. ( see also my mini review on this page on A12M from tester day
However, to the the extremely large DOF of the Voigtlander Ultra Heliar 12mm, it is sharp almost always and everywhere form F8 onwards.

Here are my first shots with Voigtlander 12mm and Nokton 40mm

Achim Reh, it's simple from Flickr. All you have to do is copy the BBCode from Flickr and paste it into your post.

Choose Share --> Then in the "Grab the HTML/BBCode", copy everything inside the textbox (make sure radio button bbcode is selected first), then paste here. Simple. ;-)

This stupid board don't let me post any links ...whats the point of photography board that does not allow its registered members to post photos ?

before you go round calling the entire CS forum stupid, please check your own settings on flickr as suggested. usually, the problem lies between computer and chair....

if so many newbies have successfully posted pics before, i don't see why you are so special that you can't.

I can't , because when I want to post a link to my pictures, there is a board message that says I am not allowed to post any links . So, i don't think it is my fault . I also wrote a message to the admin, which was never answered.

These are the ok ones. Yes, the colors are out of the cam, no PP (except the BW one). That's what I like about this cam.

Good tips. I have set it up as suggested. Thank.

Anyone know how to register the names on the lenses in the cam for recording to EXIF? Couldn't find it in the manual.
