When you bought your extreme card, does it come with a key for their data recovery software?
It did, but that's only for a year, I bought this 3 years ago. And I don't need to recover anything, the photos are there and I can copy them, I only want to remove them before asking for replacement. Anyway thanks for suggestion, will be heading to Vector Magnetics at lunch tomorrow, they close at 5.30pm and I doubt the Saturday opening hours (with remark "Please call for confirmation" on their web).
Oh, while I'm at this, is SanDisk still one of the recommended SD Card? Thinking of getting another 16GB spare for my upcoming trip. Thanks!

SanDisk all along are good on DSLRs. There is a new Extreme version with 80mb/s which is in between the normal 45 mb/s and the Pro 90 mb/s.

I'm using Sandisk CFcards n SD cards too. I also recommend Lexar cards but not popular in local.

For me i had experienced on the adaptor failed to read the micro sd. Chances it may cause corrupt files. My opinion is best to get a full SD for reliability and stable.

It is best practice to use different cards for different electronics products. For cameras, you can use the SanDisk Ultra or Extreme series but saying that, you can also use the SanDisk Ultra series for your mobile phone. I use it on my HTC too
Hi, cpuer! To add to what has been shared already... If you balance cost per Gb and Access Speed, dollar for dollar, the MicroSD + adapter route would be more costly than a SDHC or SDXC for your GR.
Reliability and redundancy is another issue. The price of MicroSD and SD cards has dropped tremendously in the past few years. If you're going to buy a GR, then the cost of a SD card pales in comparison. Get a MicroSD for your phone and a nice SD card for your GR. Cards do fail. Phone storage include other data besides photos can be lost too.
What you suggested is possible, but quite a hassle. Hee... The quick startup of the GR would be wasted while you 1. switch off your phone 2. remove the MicroSD card 3. slide it into the adapter 4. put it into your new GR. 5. Turn on your GR. Skip straight to step 5. And avoid dropping your phone and/or GR in the process.

I am using a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC card and haven't encountered serious problems. Very rarely I get a "mismatched file" display, which was easily solved by turning the GR on-and-off again. This card is no slouch too, I was happily snapping RAW+JPEGs away on my recent vacation.

Guys, thanks for the sharing and input. Normally I don't actually need anything more than what Ricoh would be giving or what I already have meaning an 8GB SD. But due to my coming Jpn trip in Dec, I wanted something much bigger capacity and yet usable after I come back from the trip. That was my intention of going to the micro SD route. But hearing feedback on the SD adapter issues, I need to be careful on this route now. Thanks again.
Nope, though I did use the WA2 on the GXR 28mm module before.

It was rather silly of me, cause I could have just tried it when I was at Yodabashi camera 2wks back, but I thought the converter needed an adapter to mount.
Hopefully I can try one during one of the monthly outings.
