Can we manually select the focus point like in DSLR?

I am deciding on whether to
1) buy a 35/2 for my DSLR
I have a D50, so 35mm is similar to 52mm viewing.
Not exactly wide angle but at least aperture is wide enough.
Cost ~$500

2) buy GR-D for wide angle needs in digital imaging
I have a GR-1 and like the interface.
As such, I know the lens of GR-1 and henceforth the quality it is capable of.
The dynamic range looks good too.
However, I read that high iso may not be too good leh.
Cost ~$990

3) save money and wait for Photokina
or go for IXUS 800 IS.

My main interest is capturing two hyper-active niece and nephew (5, 10 years old),
environment portrait.

I do have digicam (Fuji F10 for portable high iso images and Sony T3 for better portability
but only barely usable iso200) Sigh, T3 is showing its age, in this rapid obsolescence....

since u have stuff like fuji f10, maybe getting the nikon 35mm f2 for ure d50 would add more fun to ure photography, just my opinion since u can play more with shallow depth of field.

unless u really looking at a portable and very high quality image and wide angle compact cam of 28mm (21mm optional), ricoh GRD would suit u.
