RF - The Journey

About 1 year ago, a bunch of rangefinders(RF) enthusiasts in ClubSnap RF sub-forum got together to form what is known as RFSG today.

On 6th August 2010, we held an inaugural event RF - An Introduction @ SAM for the local RF community at the Singapore Arts Museum. The event featured keynotes by speakers from our very own RF community, sharing their passion, their experiences and their journey into world of RF. The event also showcased photographs taken using RF by people like you and me. The turnout for that special day was overwhelming and we saw many new and familiar faces. I am sure those who turned up were not disappointed :)

There is also a special book where we opened the opportunity for everyone of you RFers to contribute your photographs that were taken by RF.

In past year, the local RF community has grown by leaps and bounds and there were many newcomers into the world of RF. As such, we are going to publish a 2nd book next year! We are going to open entries to the next book from now till 31 Jan 2012, which would give you more than enough time to shoot, develop, scan, edit and select the 3 best photos you have. This time round, we will also be requesting RFers whose works are selected to include a small write-up on your RF Journey (as the title suggests ;)) So all of your RFers out there, its time to go out there, shoot, shoot, shoot and send us your 3 best works!

Now... how can you send in your works?

Each RFer will be allowed to send in 3 pieces of their favourite photographs (only taken using a RF and we trust you on that) following the example as stated below (please follow the format) and send it to rangefinder.sg@gmail.com

Example:
Title of email: Bernard Tan
Name: Bernard Tan
Contact: 9XXXXXXX
Attachment: Pic 1 (title of pic), Pic 2 (title of pic)...

[please DO NOT send in high-resolution copies in the email, so as to allow the emails to be sent through.]

We are opening the contribution from now till Tuesday 31st January 2012, 2359 hrs. Contributions after that will not be entertained to facilitate consolidation, selection and processing. It is important to leave your Name and Contact behind, so we can contact you, should your works are selected.

Should your works are selected:
***Film RFers, would need to scan your negatives @ a minimum of 3200dpi for submission. Digital RFers would need to send in a high resolution copy.***

Feel free to post any questions you might have here :)

Can't wait for the second book! :D

Just to ask...what is the preferred maximum image resolution size?

Great :D Hopefully I have something worth contributing by next year haha

Hi guys, dont need high res pictures now.

Go to your Flickr>all sizes>medium 640 is more than enough for now.

Please dont sent in a large or high res file, I will refuse to download it.

Just a little bump on this thread. The local rangefinder users committee is growing and I am glad to see a lot of new nicks online and new faces during outings or just on the streets.

Anyway, it is almost the end of 2011. I am sure lots will be travelling or just spending your free time locally. Wherever is your destination, bring your rangefinders around and capture life around. Then submit 3 of your best photos and share it with other likeminded rangefinder users.

just an update, I've just checked through the email for the photo submissions.

I'll spend the next few days downloading the pictures & sorting them out before the selection process
from RFSG facebook page (6 March, 0023hrs), for those not on fb...
