[RF.SG Project] Me & My RF

Royale With Cheese

Senior Member
hello fellow RF.SG members!

Thank you all for your support through the monthly outings & monthly mini competitions! I believe there are still a lot of members I've not met, please do feel free to come along to our monthly outings! Bring your friends, bring the wife, the gf & bring the beer for me! :bsmilie:

Good news for 2011 would be that RF.SG would soon have our very own web page which are in the works at the moment by our behind the scenes hard working crew!!!

I've had a discussion with Sir Dan the other day about having a exhibition to celebrate the launch of RF.SG's web page.

The theme of the exhibit would be:
"My RF & Me"

The idea would be for every RF.SG member to submit one picture each to be exhibited.
Pictures can be anything from pets, people, buildings etc. As long as it is taken by an RF camera.

You can all sent in your pictures to my email:
agnosticgary@gmail.com
Please rename your image file to reflect your name.
For example: royale with cheese - gary.jpg
Please do include a title of the picture in your email subject & the gear used.
Please try to keep the files under 5mb.
*edit*
photo size should be: 297mm x 210mm, 300dpi

I'll update this post again to let you guys know the deadline. tentatively looking at 28th Feb 2011 as the deadline.
Photos submitted after the deadline will be forfeited.

Please do note that for this one, members themselves would have to pay for the printing cost. I'm afraid we would not be able to bear the printing cost for you on this one as it would be quite a substantial amount to be printed.
Don't worry, it wouldn't cost you more than a pint of beer at the pub
I'll have to work out the number of pictures submitted & look to sources for a good price before updating again.

In the nutshell, just started this thread to inform your guys of the latest developments & for you to submit your picture in as well.

I'll give more details on it as time goes. Do feel free to Q&A here if you have any questions or feel if I have left out anything!

*update* on the how to resize your pictures thanks to CJ & dovevader:

1. scan your negatives at 2400 or 3600 dpi (higher, the better), Digital skip this step.

2. both digital and film users import your digital files into photoshop.

3. go to image>image size, under "document size", change the DPI to "300pixels/inch" first then under change the unit right above to "mm"

4. IF your picture is landscape, key in "210" for the width, the height leave to auto-proportion. BUT if your image is portrait, key in 210 for the height instead, leave the width to auto-proportion.

*Update*
Submissions extended till 6th March due to CS server being down.

By the way guys, we are looking into incoporate member's blog sites into RF.SG's webpage.

If you do have one, please do send me a link when you submit your picture via email at the same time.

Wow great news..let me go home and go thru the pictures i have. Hopefully its not too "under qualified" for the exhibition:)

By e way, does the blog have to be strictly a RF related blog?

That's Great!
Thanks for working so hard, Gary & the gangs.
Of course, greatest thanks must go to the driving force of RF.SG, Chairman Dan!

analog print can or not?:)

Oh ya, is there a preferred dpi since its going to be printed?

lol! No worries, just take your time to choose & submit before the deadline so that I can consolidate the pictures.

Dont worry about being "under qualified", no such thing at all for this one. This exhibit is for you to show one picture you think best represents you & your RF or whatever pictures shot by your RF.

Hmm.. 3200dpi?
I remember Francis aka dovevader did once post instructions on how to get the correct size/dpi previously for the RF.SG book submission but I cant seem to find the thread...

I think my gmail should be able to take it, just send me over high res of dpi in jpeg so that the file would not be too big.

Thanks for compliments guys but really not just me, it takes the whole crew to make this work, guys like Dave, Gary, Xavier, derrick, Ernest deserve the kudos more than I.....let's just make rfsg work.

One last thing "sir" ur head...:)

Edit: also a shout out of thanks to the "green goblin" for his silent yet unyielding support of our cause....much appreciated sir

Hi Gary

Thanks for the kind words! Will go thru the pictures!:)
And thanks for the effort everyone!

Hi Gary,

Great to hear on this piece of good news! Can't wait to see RF.SG go live :)

I just scanned my 4R photo at 3200dpi ...guess what, the size is 108mb !
Errr....i just resize it to 5mb and send it over ?

Cheers,
Martin

This is such a great initiative. I'd love to participate. Shall think about what I want to submit now.

Thank you for all the hardwork. RFSG is a community that I'd proud to be a part of. :)

Let me add something to what Gary said: me & my rf should be what rf means to you, anything that adequately expresses that theme. Everyone gets 1 photo exhibited. As Gary mentioned, the subject is virtually limitless.

Do remember to also submit a title for your shot, your real name, your nick and gear used. For the shy ones, if you don't wish to have your name published, just your nick is fine.

wa bro, how come your file so big? Try scanning the negatives instead. Scan in jpeg should do. I'm using the canon 8800F, negatives scanned at 4800dpi only gets 7-8mb file in jpeg

Any other questions please feel free to use this thread as a discussion. I'll do my best to keep you guys up to date on the latest developments & information that I would have on hand!

Cheers
Gary

Cool~ Can't wait~ I just returned from Melbourne for good, so hope to join up with the RF community soon! Will be browsing through what I have. Hope to see more RF lovers!

Gary, decide on the final size and ask the rest to send you in that exact size (length, height) at 300DPI will do.

Looking good. Im sure more response this time than the RF.SG book01. hehe

hi guys!

Here is a little teaser on what the RF.SG page would be like! We would have the winners of the monthly minis splashed across the front page when you enter the webpage
