is it much of a prob ? should i rescan at 3600 dpi ?

I scanned my B&W @1200 dpi @16 bit greyscale. No problem with the size being too small. Check your settings again.

1200dpi is actually just alright for internet viewing.

if you are thinking of going for prints, do higher dpi
