It was nice meeting so many of the RF group today. My apologies to those that I have not personally had a chance to introduce myself to.
My name is Jonathan or just Jon for short. I'm the bald guy with the earrings.
It was an interesting day starting with meeting Derrick and getting a little insight to the man behind those great pictures, keep up the great work. I admire your passion!
Unfortunately while looking that the exhibit, I broke me reading glasses so could not take in all the details of Derrick's work.
Without my reading glasses it was time to relax, grab a cup of Joe and shoot the breeze with Jessmond and CY. What a respite being in a nice air conditioned cafe with good friends knowing the that outside the walls that kept us confined it was humid, drab, haze covered and overcast. Being outdoors the past few days kept me thinking I was on the set of Mad Max. All I needed was my leather outfit and a shotgun.....
Finally it was decided to get off our bottoms and do a little walk about with the rest and try take some shots.
When we were all outside it made it easier for Jessmond and I, who didn't know the RF group to say our Hello's to those around as as we walked towards Clark Quay.
Along the way,we had a little incident with a very upset busker who did not appreciate his picture taken. I suppose it is a lesson to respect other's, although we are in public. This gentleman vented his frustration at having his privacy invaded by slandering all the Chinese, Singaporeans and present government.
It was ironic that as a group we stood out with our 'discreet cameras', when we all subscribe to the same school of thought, about the little RF being 'invincible'.
After our second refreshment break of the day Jessmond and I had to leave and unfortunately along the way back to the car we passed the unhappy busker. He was on his way home with his guitar, stool and a bag.
After walking pass Jessmond and I he started shouting at me. Calling me 'botak' blah blah......., he then proceeded to challenge me to a fight and all the while 'praising' the Chinese community and my ancestors. I thought to myself, Wow! This guy must be old to have met my ancestors and must be very well connected as he dropped the names of several of our senior MP's and was also 'praising' them.
He then came towards me with the stool raised in his hand threatening to hit me. It was then that I decided that he had pushed his luck and told him to go ahead and hit me if he wanted. I tried to pass my camera and bag(priority was to ensure the camera and lenses did not get damaged

)to Jessmond to confront the busker but Jessmond grabbed hold of me and refused to let me go, all the while saying, " Jon, we are God's Blessed Children, do not let the Devil affect us". I have to say that hearing that made me want to laugh on one hand because I have never heard anyone trying to dissuade me from getting into a fight by saying that the other person was the Devil, but he was right.
Funny enough when the busker saw that he had pushed me past my limit, he quietly backed off. He actually turned around and walked away. Coward!
Thanks Jess for stopping me. I know that it was stupid then to react. I'll just remember to stay away from that busker and would suggest you guys not try to provoke him by taking any pictures of him.
Before I forget, I had a great time and look forward to meeting up again with my new friends. Hopefully our next outing/meeting will not be so 'exciting'.
Have a great Sunday.
