Innocence with Curiousity
Smile!
Walking on the streets of People park in Shanghai, I saw these three kids sitting along the pavement. Unlike the kids in Singapore, they don't wear nice cloths, or carry the latest gaming gadget. If you look at the boy in the middle, his jeans are dirty, and has been patched up with cloth which are of the same color as the jeans. I wanted to take a shot of them for memories, at the same time to remind myself how fortunate we are in Singapore.
As I approached them to take my first shot, their first reactions are as of the top photo, curiosity, coupled with innocence. I guess they must be wondering why I am taking their photo.
After the first shot, I smiled at them and ask them to smile at the camera (in my mind, I thought they would run away!). To my surprise, they did more what I told them, and the result is the 2nd photo.
The smiles are true & genuine from their heart. That's what I like about children. They do not have a 'wall' like us adults and whatever expressed by them is true from their heart.
They don't care about other people's opinions (even though they wore clothing that are old & worn-out), and always give freely all they can. No hidden agenda or motives.
I believe that is the innocence in them and i believe I have captured it in these two photos.
