RF panning

I like to share my RF panning takes; I feel it is easier done thru RF cause I could see my subject thru my viewfinder even before they walk into my frame. I don’t know if mine is the best method, it kinda works for me.

For daylight, try iso160, f16 and 1/4 to 1/2 sec for passersby (walking), I don’t remember shooting a running man so far. Sometimes i have to adjust the exposure, sunny 16 applies. They usually turn out fine on a M8 with all my lenses, I don’t need to correct exposure much on photoshop with these settings. (I don’t have another RF, I hope it work for yours).

I remember I spent a bomb on film previously trying panning and got frustrated, maybe got one or two acceptable shots sometimes but didn’t really learn the trick, just tikam tikam always, and I was too lazy to take note of my setting for each take.. so I usually chicken out when it comes to panning shots.

I have seen others’ take with longer exposure and very nice results with a diff feel. I haven’t reached that standard yet.

PS: Pan before u shoot, do not shoot before u pan, & hold yr breath.
PS2: Pls share yr panning methods too.

Just thought maybe this could help.

Good luck.

should try it haha
but film ex

To play it safe, 1/8sec, quite unlikely to overexpose. I just feel the slight 'stretch' look of a walking man against a totally 'stretch" background at 1/2 is the best looking for me..not too over stretched.. but again every man walks at diff pace.. good luck.

Last one not panning, just having fun with longer exposure.
f16, 2sec, (should have been better if i -2EV, it was slightly overexposed)

I used Zorki-1 with Industar-22 50mm f/3.5 lens wide open. The above shot was sadistically executed using the pre-focussing the rangefinder view and the photo-taking view for composition at the same time; lighting condition were deeply overcast at that time. I wasted 2 shots before getting this somewhat ok'd shot.
