hey guys, I'll be at the F1 tonight, got coporate grandstand tickets! Woohoo! Pratice day but hell, I'll see if I can shoot anything, only got 50 & 75 out today
I'll be bringing my R-d1s to the F1 on sat and sun. We'll see what a RF can do at the race track... not keeping my hopes up. hahaha... But I'll be more interested in capturing the people and the festivities there more then the cars zooming by though...
I'd prefer an SLR for F1, primarily for the longer lens availability, but a knowledgeable photographer with a RF should be able to get decent track photos too. Race drivers tend to follow the race line (not quite fixed but quite predictable) so pre-focusing shd be no prob in most cases (unexpected events such as crashes and overtaking manouevres being the exceptions).
Admittedly, none of this is from direct experience (never been to an F1 race, only drifting). Also, I wonder how many photographers have problems with AF and the fencing -- I'd imagine many OOF shots because of that!
ok, yesterday I didnt use my RF to shoot the cars... Hahahahahaha!
Concentrating on the beer instead! hahahaha! Was at pauleneurs drinking & eating than went it about 9pm++ more drinks again :bsmilie: After that, back to pauleneurs for more drinks :bsmilie:
Eh, none taken. You are absolutely right, the rangefinder is just not the correct tool. BUT, it was fun trying and satisfying when I do get the rare decent shot
This year I brought my 50D with a long white lens.... got many great shots but it was too easy to be any fun.... don't know if I am making any sense here :dunno:
