Sure, but the technique depends on the specific image. What works for one won't work for others.

I am no expert with photoshop. But if I were to do it with my own knowledge.. I think i probably convert my picture layer for smart filter (Filter -> Convert for smart filters). Then do shadow adjustment (Image -> Adjustments -> Shadows/Highlights). The smart filter provides a mask. Maybe mask away the part which you don't want to be affected. =)

It depends on the image, especially the background where the shadows are cast. Post an image so we can see the problem.

as a few have mentioned, need to see the images first, if:

1) black hair on white B/G with grey tone shadow= can do.

2) Black hari on black B/G with black shadow = hard to do

Both will use different sets of tools and skills.

hi guys, thanks for your feedback.

clone tool.

Clone tool and the Healing Brush will work. Alternatively, use curves/levels to increase the brightness of the shadow region and mask this adjustment layer to limit it to the shadow region.

yap, i suppose you used some of the methods mntioned by the CSers?

did it take long for you just to edit this pic?

Clone stamp is the tool for this (but not the healing brush).
You could do more for this image than take out the shadows ... well,
maybe not you, but someone.
