Red Cliff 2

1. CGI is definitely not the same standard as LOTR
2. Lots of useless scenes eg. Zhou Yu dancing with the sword. Entire part of Zhao Wei etc.
3. Hilarious scenes eg. Sun Quan - 你们别再上来了!

Could have been condensed into a tighter, better-paced single movie

Have ordered a blu ray copy of this movie. Release date is Monday and I should get it by next Friday.

It would be awesome on a 7.2 HT system. :)

Perhaps there are other suggestions of the really good asian films that has been released over the years?

My personal favourite 无间道 part 1 and part 1 only.

i just watch the show last night. I also dun understand for the part 3, Sun Quan say Don't come up anymore. Telling his own people or cao cao people?

Anyone got the dvd and watch the making of the show? The video seems to cut off at some point where the narrator is talking.

Both Red Cliff 1 n 2 SUCKS.

Miss cast
Bad cinematography
repetative fighting scenes
lousy and loose scripts
bad acting, no acting

the worst thing is, the director, producer, the actors, are all capable of better work, and yet, this fell way short of expectation.

To sum it up, John Woo has passed his prime ....

To be fair, and I love John Woo's movie, most of them, his repertoire is somewhat limited. Historical epic is way out of his league.

In some ways, Red Cliff comes across as a movie produced and directed by committee, to satisfy every nooks and cranies of the market. At the end, it satisfied none.

Many seems to like to use the LOTR trilogy as an example. That movie, has focus. Red Cliff is anything but.

How can you call this epic? Sole purpose of making this movie is to generate $$$ and hopefully, some Hollywood buzz :(
