Recommended Softwares for Photo Story?

i'm intending to do a "wedding story" slideshow as a gift to my friend.
any softwares that u guys have been using and it proves to be a great tool and produces good results?

seeking for kind advices and suggestions.

The most basic one is available in the windows xp itself. It's called the Windows Movie Maker
