From using your kit lens, what do you find lacking?

I find that I can't really zoom into the faces of ppl to capture their emotions.. most of my photos now seems to be rather quite 'wide-angled'..

I would think i need a zoom lens.. but there are so many to choose from.. so i'm at a lost now..

What is the point of wanting to buy something that you have no known use for?

i really find it amusing for people who wants to get a lens without knowing what can it serves him for. get what you NEED, not what you WANT. no need to complete your setup from ultra wide 10mm to telephoto 800mm, just exaggerating, it's wasting money. shoot more to know what type of lens you're lacking. test/rent different lens to know which lens u really should get, especially those expensive lens like the L series. but dont let the equipments judge your photos, but your eye which compose the photo.

I got myself a 55-250 IS after selling my 28-300 mm Sigma. I have NEVER used the 55-250 IS in real life before! It's a great lens for its price but somehow, I just don't find it all that useful. Doesn't help that I have a 200-500 Tamron lol.

Sorry to hijack the thread as i have similar ques. I have the 18-55 kit lens and looking for a wide angle lens for panorama/landscape. Which would you guys recommend (Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6, Tamron AF 11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 or Tokina AT-X 11-16 f/2.8 - this 1 way off budget or any other) ? Is it for worth for me to get the Tamron 17-55 F2.8 as it has a larger f?

1) I suggest doing a search or simply looking around the Sigma/Tamron/Tokina subforums. Has been discussed to death

2) If the 11-16 f/2.8 is out of your budget, so would the Sigma 10-20.

3) Why would you want a Tamron 17-55 if you are looking for a lens wider than the kit lens?

Alright will do a search on the wide angle lens mentioned. I have read good reviews on the Tamron 17-55, about IQ and also it has a larger f that makes me tempted to get it to replace the kit lens but not sure if its worth it.

Prioritise. What do you need first?

One or two things that I should say:

1) It's Tamron 17-50, not 17-55
2) You refer to the f/2.8 as a large aperture, not large f.

;p, oh ya typo error, it shd be tamron 17-50 and i mean the larger aperture.
I guess i go for a wide angle lens first. Thanks.
