Why don't you try Lawry's The Prime Ribs @ Paragon. Very good ambience for 2. About $100-$150 per head to be on the safe side.

For a decent steakhouse, try:

MORTON'S, THE STEAKHOUSE
The Oriental Hotel

Its in the same league as Lawry's.

I second Morton's... Best steak around, their martini's are also quite an experience.

IMHO better than Lawry's..

The portions can be quite large; the last time I had to share one full 3 course meal with my partner and still couldn't finish

Wow thanks for all the recommendations, too bad I get to reply only very late at night(or early in the morning should I say) because I was too busy with work :-s.

Why don't u try a nice resturant, rather than a hotel?

U can try Desire at Scarlett Hotel, one of the more romantic restaurant in SG at one of the best boutique hotel. It's next to Maxwell Market (which you can bring her there also, the food is great!!)

For a more toned down setting with good food, i always reccommend Senso at Club Street. One of the best italian restaurant in SG. Not very exp also, less than 200 for 2 w/o wine.

In terms of steak, some how i prefer lawrys. I feel that Morton is just big in portion and $$. However, Mortons has the best Godiva Chocolate cake, which will definitely score u plenty of brownie points with girls....

One more excellent choice for Jap food will be Inagiku at Swissotel Stamford. best Jap food in SG but pricey.
