Just fork out that little bit more for the YN568EXII. Got alot more nice features with HSS to play with. At least when you come to appreciate HSS, you won't have to fork out more to buy a new one.

If not wrong, YN568EXII has optical master function. So can said it has most function of canon 580exII but at a much lower price.
Feel it gd option if on budget.

Depend on your budget, if you can feel comfortable with the cost of 600ex which cost about $1k than go ahead.
Otherwise can consider 2nd hand, try not to get 3rd party flash if possible.
For indoor and outdoor, you can consider either 430 ex ii or 580 ex ii.
Do read this article before you purchase so you can get a clearer idea on the flash you wish to get:

Thanks! :)

Add on a negative point to YN, today tested it with lightsphere (light modifier), because there is no locking system in the flash head, it is not able to hold the position once I point the camera downwards, ie will return to pointing direct as per when we use without light modifier. I have yet to test the YN flash with the Small Rogue Flash Benders that I have, but I think it will also be the same problem.
However, the YN flash is able to hold position with a small light modifier like Stofen Omni Bounce Box.

600ex rat is only SGD600+

"only"...please treat me to one. thanks :)

for flash users who don't have position-lock on their flashhead

you can try making your own DIY softbox. It is not a really large softbox but quite a good performer. See my Beyond Basics thread in Newbies Corner > Articles and Guides

i spotted a cheap one going for 2 dollars on ebay. usually when things are this cheap...but ordered one since its not too ex also :bsmilie:

To TS, buy the best flash u can afford and at the same time it must also suit your budget and needs. The 580EX II is a gd start while the 600EX-RT IMO is a bit complicated to use over the 580EX II.

YN 460II is cheap and good. not very powerful so can't shoot events, but great for deliberate shooting like product, strobist portraiture, etc

Actually the Nissin Pro DI866 can also give reasonable results and it also depends on one's requirement and usage. The Nissin is actually
a backup unit as my main flash is the good old Metz 60CT4. Share an image shot with the following : 5D + CZ VS 24-85mm with lite source
bounced from the Nissin. Another thing about the Nissin it has a fill lite.

1/50sec ISO320@f5.0 @ 34mm
