Don't get me wrong, the Canon is a capable performer image quality wise, but the edge still goes to the Epson. As in, you can still get top prints from the Canon, but in some ways it's like the difference between using a 70-200L and a Sigma 70-200 HSM. Some people can't tell the difference, others can be don't mind, some do object.

Nor am I talking about subjective colour palettes either.

Certainly for your application the Canon seems a better buy for the office purely based on its speed.

Here we go again...Canon vs Nikon. Hehehe...

The reason for having chosen the S9000 is because of the overall long running costs using all orginal supplies.

For those thinking of buying the Epson 2100.

Do note that the newer Epson 2200 is coming out soon. Likewise for the canon models, which explains the recent price slashes.

What? What? I didn't even mention the N word, and I recommended the Canon too on the balance of things...

plz correct me if im wrong, but the marketing model designation for the Epson 2200 is for Canada & US, while Japan has the model designation PM-4000PX and the rest of the world calls it the Epson 2100.

i just hammered Epson 2200 into the search engine and this was one of the first few pages that it locked onto.

even ink suppliers call it Epson 2200/2100

i could be incorrect. i didn't know Epson was releasing a new photo printer so soon.

Pyre is correct. 2200 is the US/Canada model 2100 is Asia and Eroupe model. They are the same. I'm not aware of the new model to replace the 2100/2200. It is a hot selling model in US and Europe.

I use the 1290 (called 1280 in US) and extremely happy with the quality. Yes there is some problem when printing borderless (need more printhead cleaning). I send my 1290 for service after too much borderless printing and now I try to avoid it. The print speed is slow for the highest quality. Canon is faster (may be quality is good enough for design work, I'm not sure as I'm not familiar in this area). You may be able to get one just above S$700 in sls.
