Recommendation for suitable tripod

I'm using a Canon Powershot S3. Looking for a suitable tripod. One of the criteria is that it mustn't be too heavy or difficult to carry around as I would like to bring it overseas. I don't really need those professional ones; as you could see, i'm using a prosumer camera only.

Thanks! ;)

Sorry I need to recommend to you some pro brands but these are cheaper than those European ones (eg. Gitzo) which normally cost a bomb.

Try Benro with a hooked center column; either A/C-057 (3-section) or A/C-058 (4-section), all approximately 1kg. The hook at the bottom is for you to hang your camera bag on for extra weight & stability; without it you may accidentally topple your tripod over if not careful. Other alternative is Slik but the compact ones are too light (no stability).

slik sprint pro.

economical, cheap, and good. and lasts quite a while.

Benro or slik would fit your bill. :)

What are their price range like and where could I get a good deal from? Last at Cathay Photo (Marina Square) on Saturday and saw some SLK tripods. They seems quite heavy to me. Are these ok?

Thanks for all the advices.

you sure you want heavy? :dunno:

slik sprint pro - look in the others section for rough price, there are 2 versions, the 3-way pan tilt head costs more (and please don't ask me what this is, if you want to find out, please google)

last i remember, sprint pro should be around $70-$85, whatever you get at cathay should be relatively reasonable, if you worry, go to tk foto also can, all in the same rough area anyways, tk is at shaw towers (not the orchard cinema one).

for anything else, can refer here. the 330dx comes highly recommended, but is a tad heavier if i recall correctly.

Actually I prefer the tripod to be light. The last I had was heavy and I'd a tough time carrying it overseas. What happened was I lost the thing that screws onto the base of the camera, so have to get a replacement.

Thanks for all the advices.
