Recommend cheap torchlight

Got mine from Sheares for $31, a pretty strong torch with only 1 LED and uses only 1 AA. I used it in my trip to Tibet, carrying it with me everywhere I went, illuminated the dark areas and towns easily.

did u happen 2 c Inova X1 there? oso uses 1-AA batt, 1 LED bulb. but design & built tougher. rear switch on/off.

Normal (Krypton) Maglite or LED Maglite, Arto?

IMO, the Krypton Maglite cannot compare to the present LED torches. I have Maglites from the Solitaire up to 4D. The whiteness of the light and the coverage (not throw) of the beam pales on comparison to the LED counterparts. However, I have not used any of the 3W LED Maglites before, so I can't comment on those Maglites.

Modification to krypton bulb? I thought that it is krypton bulb modified to be LED. I think that you got it the other way around. See: http://www.maglite.com/LED_Mod.asp

I just got the C5 from Cateye, Tactical Vision C5.

Single AA, $45, 3 Level brigtness with 1 SOS, 1 Standby.

Not a bad torch. Was comparing it with Fenix L2D-CE.

Might be getting the L2D-CE or whatever that comes along later on. Only worried about the L2D-CE loose tail ring issue.

Forget the modifications... I'd rather stick to the Fenix. Save me my trouble...

Thanks for the great service CarEYE. But just out of curiosity, what problem will a loose tail-ring cause? Loose contact? Could not power on?
