Recommend a video camera

Hi,

I hope I'm posting in the right forum. Still a noob here.

Can recommend a video camera with my below specs.

- Budget: Not more than SG$5,000
- Type of videos: Athletics, e.g. sprints, jumps, throws
- Needs to be mobile and somewhat 'light' to carry
- Fast focus to capture sporting moments
- Range: Able to zoom & capture as far as 100m away​

Is Sony NEX-VG20H any good?

VG20 is one of my favorite cameras, but it is not suitable for your purpose. It has no zoom control and uses a APS-C sized chip, making focusing difficult in sports situation. The perfect camera for you is the Sony NX70. It has a golf-shot function that you can use for other athletic type situation. Basically, it pre-records several seconds before you hit record (or activate recording with a loud sound) and shoots in ultra slow motion thereafter. It has touchscreen motion tracking to keep your moving subject in focus.The camera is also very ruggedly constructed. It is rainproof and dustproof. It is however in the pro-sumer price range of around $3900-$4200. You can very much the same function (less the XLR audio and waterproof casing) in NX70's consumer cousin the CX700V; much smaller and cheaper at around $2200.
