Recommend a tripod

Hey guys! Need your help to recommend me a tripod for Pentax K-X with kit lens. My budget will be less than $150 and worth buying it.

Mind to state the price, brand and place to get it. Thank you.

BonDeFiant, you can consider the Fancier FT-6662A and Slik Sprint Pro. I used them both and they are good tripods. The Slik is better than the Fancier but it should fit within your budget.

Until recently, I am feeling the tripod is getting very heavy because I tried Pinholecam's Slik Sprint Pro version 1. Then I decided to change to the Slik Sprint Pro II GM. I bought mine for $110 second-hand from BnS. The FT-6662A will cost you about $88 first hand from tagotech.

1.3kg is light la!

you should carry my 2.7 kg one for one day... then after that you can jump across rocks with the FT-6662A :bsmilie: and that's not even the heaviest i've tried.

Haha that sounds like our Army SOC training! :bsmilie:

Gitzo the best, forget the rest...

Manfrotto is for men!!! Its simply the best... for anyone living in the north, south, east or west!! :bsmilie:

I dumped almost all my Manfrotto stuff after I tried Gitzo. Sure it's pricy but demonstrably better in terms of quality and usability.
Manfrotto tripod legs are OK but the ballheads aren't that great, with noticeable lens creep even with the ball tightened.
Definitely not in the same league compared to Markins, RRS, etc.

How come no one speaks about benro, light and cheaper than competitors.

I am using Monfrotto with Gitzo ballhead. Any one care to share on durability, practicality, usability on benro which is lightweight compare to others

Yeah. Got a Gitzo and never look back. It's the best of its class out there for tripod legs. Ball heads wise, there are more choices...

I'm also a big RRS fan myself. They take their name very seriously it seems.

you can also consider these:

my advice is , if you are going to use your tripod quite a bit, in less than glamorous conditions (e.g. sea) you can consider upping your budget a bit and getting something better, which will hold up better.

Currently I don't think that I will be using it near/at the water area for now. Maybe in future. Actually I don't mind spending fork out a bit more of cash to get a better one.

Hi BonDefiant,

Ive just got for myself a Sirui Tripod with a G20 ballhead. Its a little heavy though, price below $180, and it's one of the better China made tripod. Its worth a try:thumbsup: I ot it from Orient Photo at SLS.

Actually Sirui brand is also on my tripod chart list. ;p

I was looking for a tripod at Cathay Photo, Marina Square recently and intending to buy the Slik type (Never check the model of it) but it comes with the ballhead or sold separately? But still unsure whether it is a good choice to buy it.
