Reccomend a DC

ext. flash mount
more than 2 MP
faster focusing than my uzi
resonable amount of zoom <6x
able to take filters
not too ex

if dun have these also can consider:

manual focusing for a dc (only 602 have?)
monochrome LCD with backlight
uses AA batt.

If your ext flash got "Auto", then you can use auto.
There is also a manual mode, where you can learn to play with the settings.

don't think the Pro 90IS has faster AF compared to the UZI.... how about getting a 2nd hand D30. seems to have a flood of them in the market now....

saw someone selling 2nd hand D30 for $2000...

but a DSLR seems too much for a student like me
rather get a prosumer DC and improve on my already lousy skills 1st
