if you are staying in singapore for few months only.. i guess dry box is the most cost effective way.. I sold my cabinet and buying dry box.. i can bring my dry box back to my hometown anytime

My take is that, don't buy a camera if you are not buying a dry cabinet.

Hi does the dry box works? using silica gel and does it come with a hydro meter? I don't think you need to maintain at 45% RH anything ranging from 45 to 60 % RH should be fungus free. BTW. I didn't know low RH can cause the rubber or oil to harden. If you don't apply heat and temp is maintained at room temp, got problem meh?

it works(if it's not then what's the point of me buying and using it all this time not to mention recomend it to others duh :bsmilie i usually kept it aroudn 45%-55%, i change the silica gel every 2 weeks, first week 45-50%, second week 50-55% so yeah if u don't like the "hassle" or want a constant humidity readings(though i found that over rated) by all means get a drybox like the others recomend, sometimes it's not the money it's the other circumstances(i'm renting that's why it's easier for me to move and when i want to go back to my home country)

in the end it's ur own preferences, get either one u think fits u, both are able to do the job with it's own pros and cons, choose the one that is more convinient for you.

Dear Willdoang, please don't get me wrong. I am sure any additional protection helps. I am thinking of doing what you did but will also look at the dry cabinet because it is maintenance free I suppose?

OK, looks like TK is $118 which I confirmed this morning and Parisilk is $99 excluding tax. Not sure if TK $118 includes tax but Parisilk plus 7% GST will be $105.93. The difference isn't that much but since I will be driving by Holland Village tonight, I will pick up the Digi Cabi DB-036 dry cabinet from Parisilk.

Hope they have stock as confrimed by the gentleman that answer my call this morning.

Ok got my Digi Cabi from Parisilk yesterday at $99 excluding GST. They have stock there. Instruction manual not very clear and I do a trial and error. If setting is at green light, I get 30% RH. I think that is a bit too low so I set is slightly higher.

If I am not wrong, the location you place the dry cabinet also will affect the setting required to achieve the desire RH. Of course if your room RH is already low, you may not need a higher setting but I am not sure about this.

hi guys, for those using the digi-analogue digi-cabi, are your dials set to the blue zone?

Mine seem to hover between 55 - 59% RH... i've set it to almost 12 o'clock..
