Or just.. buy more..
I think I'm just crazy :bsmilie:

Buy all.... sure will find your own style when you hv tried all the lens....

Everyone will swear by general zooms like 24-70 for FF or 17-50 or 17-55 for crop. But that's the lens I use the least. Lesson is never buy solely on others advice, especially when setting up such a thread. End up the advices given, if u buy all, will end up with more than 10k. Hahahah.

I'm glad I didn't listen to popular opinion and went instead with a 28-75 paired with 50 f1.4. Around the same amount as a 24-105.

Best is to shoot more, try out diff lens and know what you need.

Hey guys, where is the best place to actually try these lenses out?
Thanks so much for all the reponses!

Sometimes the mentality is just safety in numbers. Get the most popular one shouldn't go wrong which cannot be applied here.
It's kinda like asking which brand harddisk to get for general use - Seagate, WD, Toshiba, Hitachi, etc... then you see people recommend particular brands and models.

No, it's because they got someone else to blame if they don't like it. 'I used it and don't like it! Why did you recommend this to me?'

You can try out lenses at the Canon Showroom at Vivocity. Another option is to rent the lenses so you can try them in settings similar to how you're likely to use them after buying them.

renting lens is the best idea. i don't intend to promote any rental companies, but if you search for singapore's camera rental company, there is one which offers some discounts every weekend for certain lenses/cameras, they change the lists every week... so u get to try out different lenses that are on rental discount, and you can decide which one suits u best....

i find it useful, especially when i am on budget and wanna try out a lens for just a couple of days.

that's what i would recommend.

EF 24-105mm F4L is the best! I always use this lens for travel... 24-70 too heavy
24mm and 35mm good too keep also :)

Since u buy your body second hand, then buy your lens second hand also :p
if ur not happy can always sell it back again...

Like other bro hv mentioned, you could test lens at vivo, then rent the lens you prefers and see if it suits you.

Or you could look at some other pictures taken by other n find those you like their style, and see what lens was used n you try to rent that lens to test..

Agree on travel n event, wedding. . Low light will depend on the user preferred focal lens too for low light... 24mm, 35mm or 50mm.... etc...
