oic... i am considering a good lens cleaning cloth too. lately, when i use my 3M lens cleaning cloth to clean my IR filter, it scrathes it. lucky it only made a 2mm mark on the side. any recommendations? i totally gave up on the 3M cloth(the pink one). it makes screehing noises on my HMC filters. strangely, it works fine on SHMCs. my UV HMC filter already no more coating liao, reflection is horrendous.

not so good. firstly, the pictures somehow always come out OOF. i focus on background, put the IR filter, shoot, and for some reasons, the subjects at the side is focused rather than the center. worse still, the side subjects are only 1m away from me when my background is like almost at infinity(20m). *center spot focusing used*

secondly, i see a purple streak (very very very faint) across the center horizontal. but it is almost invisible when i turn it to black and white.

wanted to post some pics, but photobucket.com cannot enter. anyway, those pics not that nice. just testing out the IR effect.

oh.. then that happens to all la.. coz mine too.. but the focusing u got use manual focus or not... after u put ur IR filter back on u hv to switch to MF to stop it from searching for soemthing which it cannot search with IR filter on ur lens

yeah, did that. i focused, locked it, than put the IR on. btw, approz how long are your exposure? is it always around the region of 10-20 seconds?

oh no... like become OOT liao.. sorry ar...
depends on the weather lo... if sunny n bright, less than 10sec can do also.... coz the filter infront of our sensor effectively blocks out IR i think la.... maybe thats the reason why our camera not fast to use fast shutter speed? :think: wat am i talking :sweatsm:

i know nikon 50D can take fast IR lo... super fast....

i think minolta's slow IR is more of a good point. this might be the reason why minolta's DSLR always produce very true colours to what we see, cos no IR to mess it up.:think:

wah lao... i think satay sell anything, u guys better check carefully...

use cotton bud to clean ccd, use 3M cloth to clean lens... imagine all the coating gone...

hee hee, put it in the washing machine?;p

but alcohol is safe. water is a nono:nono: , learnt that from the peeling of my hoya HMC filters.

the repair is estimated to be around 180 for AS change. ask him to look into the death first shot also. Will call me back if any wrong.

Thanks. Looks like the AS mechanism can be changed without changing the sensor, which is good or else the repair bill will be much higher.
