Dear all,

I bought a Toyo Auto Dry Cabinet (100 plus litre). Initial use was perfect as hygrometer reading showed and maintained at 40 (Dry) within 2 days :) . Soon after I went for a few months trip and don't know for what reasons, my mum opened the cabinet ;( .

Since then, the hygrometer reading NEVER drop to 40 or anywhere near 50 despites taking all my equipment out for a solid week! I've adjusted the humidity setting to 'Low' or 'On' as suggested by the shop where I bought it from but it still doesn't work! However, the dehumidifying lamp is on all the time, indicating the process of dehumidifying is taking place and is working :dunno: .

Has anyone experienced such problem before and could anyone offer a solution before all my equipment are infested with mold :bheart: ?

Hi,

I would suggest you go and buy one of those digital hygrometers to test the level of humidity in the cabinet and if the difference is quite significant, send it in for repair if it is still under warranty.

My initial concern was either the analogue hygrometer is not responding well or the dehumidifier is 'choked' in its exhaust port with dust.

The dry cabinet comes with a 5 yrs warranty and the shop asked me to unscrew the dehumidifying unit and send it for repair (though they insisit my cabinet is fine with hygrometer at 60).

But, the point is and as far as I am concerned, the cabinet is WET all the time between 60 and 70 with little fluctuation in hygrometer reading. I really want to find out and make sure what has gone wrong here: The dehumidifying unit, the hygrometer or simply the cabinet is leaking.

Appreciate all replies. By the way, where can I get a digital hygrometer? I am NEW in Singapore!

That is one of the reasons I suggested you get a digital hygrometer to verify the readings of the analogue hygrometer in the cabinet. You can easily get one at many DIY stores or just pop by Ruby Photo, I've seen some on sale. ;)
