Rangfinder users, what is your 2nd setup

sad to say .

my m body has become my 2nd body.

OM-D rocks !!! shooting 1/15, 1/30, 1/60 , 1/120 with VR at 3200asa to 6400asa is just unbelievable..

wide angle @ f2 combine with high performance :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Try one , u can feel how silent the shutter is and the iso with super fast auto focus really rocks !!!

Had the ricoh for awhile . The raw file very nice but camera has very bad shutter lag .

Nice.. I was thinking of the X-pro1, the high ISO photos are AMAZING... any reason why you chose the OM-D instead?

to be able to shoot in the rain has always be my top choice and reason why I move from nikon to canon.

being an old fan for OM1, OM2, OM4 , OM4ti , Pen f , Pen ft with all the nice lens ... I always dream of a full frame digital OM body..

I must say , pre-ordering this is a risk for me becos I never believe in half frame sensor ...

Having said this , I must say . OM-D rocks !!!

Its like my SLR in a compact body ,super fast autofocus ,light and compact and the best of all.

Super low shutter lag !!!!

some example . currently no raw support so all in jpeg

M8 , M9 has low shutter lag and all the m mody has almost zero shutter lag.

Other than Nex 7 , most of them perform badly in this area. ( i dont understand this???)

SlR performs very well in this area but most ppl take it for granted . Capturing the moment not important ???

some gd things abt the camera OM-D

1.power up very fast
2.focus almost instant
3.with wide lens , dont see much bokeh in VF . almost like a RF window.
4. shoot 9 frame a sec ( show how much buffer and powerful the camera is , 16mb for a pic)

Some bad things about it

1. when it auto off or sleep . need to off and on back to wake up the camera.
2. EVF's resolution not enough to see things that are far unlike VF (leica). But can work around it by looking at the subjects together with the screen for the moment
3.no spare battery in the market now , one battery shoots abt 350 to 400 shots.
4.no super fast lens eg 24mm f1.4 , 21mm f2.8 or 15mm f2.8

Eh.. there is the 12/2 and 25/1.4... I think the 7-14/4 is fast enough for its size.

i got the 12mm f2.. very good :)

I rented the Pan one over the weekend, 7 to 14mm . Not very impress with zoom lens, all my lens all prime.

I ended shooting the Pan lens with gaffer tape to 7mm .So I wish to see more prime for m 4/3

What's wrong with the 7-14? As distortion goes by, the software correction does a decent enough job with very little loss in sharpness.

I find the distortion very bad actually, some examples below.

Isn't it natural with any lens this wide? Dpreview and photozone pretty much nailed the software corrected distortion as within limits. Even the 15mm Voigtlander gives similar results up close! (And few people use a ultra wide this close anyway because it exaggerates the inherent distortion due to the extreme field of view!)

To wit: A sample from the CV 15/4.5

Also, I note you are using the OM-D. Did you use the Olympus software to open the file or Adobe? If you used Adobe, I don't think there's support for the camera at the moment and thus none of the software correction will show up in the raw.

(What's up with this guy forever turning up in at the Esplanade with this suit? lol)

I think you guys are referring to different kinds of distortion.

In my opinion from the examples you showed, I can't see much barrel or pincushion distortion. The lines look pretty straight to me, but if you were to shoot a brick wall straight on it'll be much more obvious if there's any.

There is however a fair bit of perspective distortion which is expected of wide angles no? I always found it very hard to shoot people with wide/ultrawide angle lenses, their proportions all go funny if they happen to be in the wrong part of the frame.

I find the panny lens stretch the subjects too much .

To be honest the 15mm is alot better as compare to it.

I am not very tecnical person but I can say after try the panny wide zoom is.

I will not buy it :)

... You aren't making a lot of logical sense.

Hi,

my secondary setups: M3 (still testing out lmao) and my iphone 4s. sometimes i shoot with my 4s even though i have my 2 Ms with me, lol.

secondary M would be good for a backup though if u have a wide angle and a standard lens.

my RF is my second set up. I use it mainly for focal lengths that my main camera (Fujifilm x100) can't do.:bsmilie:
