Rangefinder Misalignment?

Hey all... really new to RFs here.

Got myself a M7 and a Voigtlander 35/1.4 a while back, and can't help but realize that my lens seems to focus past infinity by quite a bit even for a relatively distant object (200m).

Focusing on really really distant objects (>5km), there seems to be a teeeeeeeny weeeny small bit of focusing past infinity. A very very very small degree on my focusing tab.

Question is, is that normal? I honestly can't tell because I don't know much about rangefinder characteristics, but my film scans for my M7+35/1.4 are noticeably a lot less sharp than those taken with my Nikon FE2+35/1.4.

Do I have misalignment? Problem is I only have one lens so I'm unable to verify this with any other lenses.

Thanks in advance!

as long as the 2 images in the viewfinder coincide properly or sometimes a little off due to parallax error. If the pictures turn out well then you got nothing to worry about.

From what you've described, am i right to gather there's some free play in the focussing tab?

Thanks for the replies!

Yes appears to have some free play in the tab at infinity.

But I've just got myself another lens and it appears that my infinity focus is fine with it. Could be just the Voigtlander that goes past infinity.

As for the images.. I just got myself a dedicated scanner and the scans are sharper... but I have no idea if it's still considered soft. But it's generally more acceptable now...
