User's problem? :kok:...............................:bsmilie:I think it's a "user problem" for the OOF..
Pretty sure the AF is not locked...cos when AF is on, it can focus only on the infinity side. When the AF is off, it won't focus, so with this I'm pretty sure that it's not the AF locked issue. But i hear alot of soft wire movement noise when I tried to focus it manually.
AF is really a nice to have when you want to take snaps (e.g. group photos, take and go shots)..May be looking for an upgrade (Tamron 17-50?) since the repair cost for the 18-55 will probably by ~$1xx...if it's <$60, might consider repairing it.

I seldom use MF mah...so very buay zai when using MF....looks "sharp" in the viewfinder, but when take liao, zoom in ~3x, then see that it's OOF..sigh....BBB...
Now is the time for you to practice manual focusing.........................:bsmilie:I seldom use MF mah...so very buay zai when using MF....looks "sharp" in the viewfinder, but when take liao, zoom in ~3x, then see that it's OOF..sigh....BBB...
liveview + manual focus. give urself some leeway with regards to DOF by stopping down from ur widest aperture to somehting smaller... it shld help![]()

Thx for the advice, I eventually did that to last thru the event in the chinese garden. Live View + Zoom (to check focus). But since at night, with roads lit by only street lamps, very hard to not use max aperture (ISO bump at 1600 already -_-"').
But to do the live view + check focus in live view zoom for every shot is really tedious...was hoping to get it repaired to get a replacement....really headache problem.
SkyStrike said:sigh...what a day...my 18-55 AF module broke down....don't know what to do with it now..
might not be AF spoil though... AF if too low light also will not work. at least it will try to search and fail searching for me... but i think u probably already know this hahaha
sample here...
i aggahed the focus... with live view manually cause the af cannot work (too dark). dropped to f4, from 2.8, 1/15 sec at iso 1600![]()
but i pulled my back muscle... cause i bend too low ==
did a couple of tests to really confirm that it's the AF motor or the wire. If it focus hunts, it will focus to infinity then back. But this time it only focus at infinity. Even at bright subjectsmight not be AF spoil though... AF if too low light also will not work. at least it will try to search and fail searching for me..
someome really seems happy...Good heavens! Look what time it is!! :bsmilie:
