Try shooting at f2.8 in low light at least once. You'll never be able to go back to anything higher than that. :bigeyes: :bsmilie:

hmmm, haven't tried shooting with f2.8 in low light situations before...since most of the time my "low light" situations are indoor (home) where 50mm is quite tight for practical usage.

I'll wait till BBB takes over me and make me get the 17-50 or something like that.

Eh, I shoot so many times in low light with my Tamron 17-50 f2.8, then decided to upgrade to kit lens with smaller aperture. LOL

Buay tahan the AF of the BIM version of that lens.

We have to convince uncle skystrike not to get the tamron first. Heh.

I'm using a 28mm f2.8 btw. Hehe (not using AF) I like OOF. :ipuke:

the f2.8 is good for low light situation, good for AF. if no need to upgrade, then dun upgrade:) use until the lens wanna die liao then upgrade. or at least when the rubber grip deforms:)

I just use flash in low light. Haven't really had the need to shoot lowlight outdoors yet that I can't bounce. lol >.<

Anyway, haven't encountered a situation where I need f/2.8 yet. Even with my 35mm prime I haven't felt the need to go below 3.2. My demands aren't that hard yet. lol.

At times I just don't understand (can't visualize) the difference between f5.6 vs f2.8 in low light situation...btw, is f2.8 is 2 stops faster than f5.6 or is it more? getting confused with all the math involved here..

According to wikipedia. f-stops are in the convention of AV = f/[sqrt(2)^n]. so if n = 0, AV= f/1; n = 1, AV = f/1.4 etc. Copypasta:

I think right now the 17-50 is just a BBB thought. May eventually succumb to it. or maybe a Sig 30mm 1.4 :bsmilie:

Eh, I think I got enough of poison recently....don't need extra dose. Probably will give in once my nephew is born :)
