my very 1st dream catfish owned since Apr 2008:

that's a Brachyplatystoma tigrinum, previously known as Merodontotus tigrinus. common name in sg is Tigrinus/tig. other common name include zebra shovelnose catfish.

that's the problem with all the scientific names. but some fish will share similar or same common names which confuses newbies.

Well, I guess not only fishes, insects, birds, plants & so on have scientific names. Good thing someone came up with common local names.
Otherwise all of us will have our tongues twisted in no time...............:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Don't think oscars are that fierce compared to some of my collections.

thanks. someone was trying to physco me to get another fish that is landing soon in sg for the first time. when i showed him my "stocklist" he was telling me its like the list in a shop.:embrass:

Chances of him spooking the rays n getting stung by them when he tries to catch them is much higher than him eating my fishes. But overall, rays are very safe to keep.
 

saw an interesting looking fish but ended up with a monster from the same continent instead.
