Where can one buy one in Singapore?!?!? Called up Epson, they didn't take in R-D1 and R-D1s is not launch yet (and therefore don't have it as well)... Where do buyers in Singapore get their sets?!?! Or are they forced to buy grey

Most sets from Hong Kong, some from the US. Seen some used R-D1 bodies for sale in Adelphi recently but I suspect the prices will be steep.

Aiyo, I'm new to camera-scene in Singapore, any hint? ... But I'll hunt for a rude-ass nonetheless :) Thanks heaps :)

is this for real? Epson RD-1S available for sale in spore? steep price at $3888

I checked with CP last week and they asked me to returned this coming week, looks like it is for real. The price is roughly about the same for importing one directly from Japan. Given the reported flinky RF which sometime needs adjustment, I don't mind opting for local-dealer-warranty set. Hoping the streetprice is a little better though... in anycase, the price is better than what Ron in Adelphi quote me for his last sold R-D1 set ... over 5k!.

Hahahahaha! He's a quirky fella ey!?:bsmilie:

Called Epson two weeks ago about the RD1s, the replied was that there are still working on the selling price and other details with Japan. Looks like it is coming soon.:)
But again with 1.5 crop and the steep price tag have to think again.:(

The price of $3,888 does not even include any lens some more. So unless the buyer has got some Leica L and M mount lenses already, the real price to a newcomer would be much higher than $3,888. :(

Get FSU lenses, some can be $15 a pop and still take beautiful pictures (Jupiter-8 with Sonnar bokeh comes to mind) :)

Can't believe how much these Leica lenses cost ! For some of them, one lens can buy 2 R-D1s bodies !
I think R-D1s is really meant for professionals (or multi-millionaires) only. Who else would have such lenses to fix on the body.
Where to get FSU lenses by the way?

You're exegerating :) Noctilux, leica's most expensive M-lens runs about $6k, that's less than 2 Epson bodies :) Some Nikkors and Canon EFs can run into much, much more. Also, comparing to current pro DSLRs, $4k is not terrible... though one can argue that for $4k, one should get much more out of the R-D1s....

As for FSU, ebay has tons of it...

Check Voigtlander lenses, not so expensize and very good.

However, the 1.5 crop of the RD1s and the lack of lenses afforded by the viewfinder (only 28/35/50 mm) are really a problem. The sensor has nothing really special as well, a sensor from Fuji or full frame will really be welcome on so expensive camera.

Ditto, VC lenses are great stuff without the price tag...

As for the RD1s, it is actually the sensor that draws me to consider it closely :)

Can we get 2nd hand Voitlander lenses cheap here? I might consider the R-D1s if the lenses are available more cheaply.

Got a CV 12/5.6 in black if anyone is interested... can email (link below)
