Quick Review: Longbow MICRA Luxeon Torch

Don't say you are long winded. I enjoy reading your post. At least I know I am talking to someone knowledgeable in this field. You are right, we have differring opinions and we all should learn to respect others opinions and not enforce ours in them.

Is there anyway I could contact them? How about email address? I don't have any products of theirs and there is no referrals to them.

hey i suddenly recall...for those who do diving, do u prefer handheld torch or mounted(on wrist?forehead?torso?) torch? or is there somekind of decent underwater torch that fits nicely next to the mask ( i suppose the flare wont be an issue to affect ur underwater vision..) :think: if there r such slick setups then i wont mind spending the cash on one and bring it along when i go for openwater swims...coz the coastal waters of sg are really murky ah yes are there such things as very slim packed emergency life jackets? i suppose it would be something like very compressed until the size of 2 packs of poker cards with a cord that when tugged, will release and at same time inflate the life jacket...i really think these 2 gadgets will help improve the quality of open water swimming / underwater diving

hi hi,

there are alot of underwater torches but they usually only concentrate on the power of the light rather then the complex everything like you guys are into.

most of the torches i found is housed in casted plastic/pvc/some other dunno what material housing, the entry levels one usually comes with a halogen, or er can't rem the name, but they all shoots a yellow beam of light. yellow light penetrate further when there's more particle in the water (thats what the shop keeper says)

but the new IN thing is the HID and LED, HID is very very bright and most techies and commercial divers use them, LED is coming in but not all shops carries them.

UK and Princeton have these small little torch you can attached to your mask,
there are the Canon type, mounted on head type, mounted on hand type(back of palm), and also the under carrage type (handle on top).

the Longbow was the one introduced to me for a dive torch, very bright for a dive torch, but not sure if it would last long in condition of the sea water.

hand held or mounted, it really depends on the diver,, and what are they doing under water, most entry level ones are the normal straight torch.
techie would be going for more expensive and reliable torches and usually mounted on the hand.

long period of holding a heavy torch causes fatigue on the hand. so one have to choose a torch that would suit their needs lor. like duration underwater, type of dives being carried out.

As you might suspect, there is a lot of interest on the CPF about any 123 cell luxeons that can compete with Arc.

Can anyone tell me if the longbow micra with a push button tailcap allows for lanyard or split ring attachment to that tailcap?

Yes you can fit a split ring at the tailcap and still able to stand on the tailcap. The torch comes with a lanyard, though the clip is flimsy at best.

I have to remind again that the tailcap has no pushbutton. What I mentioned is that you can turn the tailcap until a slight press on the tailcap will turn it on. Not elegant but works nevertheless.

Despite negative comments made by some users, I have to say that it is really good value and have garnered much interest among my collegues.
