Questions: DSLR newbie

heh, dont confuse coffee filters with camera filters.

most filters are made from glass, although i believe some are made from plastic.
they have threads on the outside that will allow you to screw them onto the front of your lens.

just go into a camera shop and ask to see their filters.. you will see what they look like.

ohhh at first i thought the UV will kill off the coating of the lens or something

it is actually just to 'alter' the light on how it will enter the camera into the sensor

another question.. these filter... is a piece of plastic? thin paper or what?

den B+W sure have some expensive paper. :sweat:
UV filter in digital camera server as protector of ur lens front element, but in film era, it is used to somewhat block out UV which will "damage" the film and also as lens protector. :thumbsup:

i believe some of the cheaper brand are made of plastic, but those more reputable brand are using glass such as B+W/Hoya/Nikon/Canon
