Hi guys. Wow, am I glad I found this place. I just bought a Dimage Z1 three days ago. I've been looking around for a forum like this one to share tips, ideas , etc. I haven't had much time to play around with the camera, but so far, I like it a lot. I do have my first question for you. What brand and speed of SD memory cards do you recommend for the Z1? I've heard that there are quality and reliability issues with some brands. I also want to make sure the card has a fast enough write speed, so it doesn't slow down the camera when taking action shots. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Anyway, I see nothing wrong that people have been praising about the A80, for it's the cheapest alternative to get something near to the functionalities of a prosumer camera. A Z2 is good only because of the telephoto lens. As for the manual control, it doesn't really match up to any of the prosumer cameras. So you have to really decide for yourself...
But then again, since you are so determined, go and get it! It doesn't really matter what camera you get, as long as the pictures are good, right? :dunno:
I owned a Canon A40 before. I must say the picture quality is good but it sure takes alot of imagination to come out with a nice photo composition. Then, I got attracted to the Z2 and bought one. I would'nt say the the new Z2 photo quality is better then a canon but the focus, zoom, and fast lens really unleased another way for me to capture other kind of photo compositions. Anyway, ultimately, there is always photoshop to help with picture quality .... ;p

Anyway, Minolta users usually dun thump their chest and declare that Minolta is best..... we are usually just value-for-money users who quietly appreciate the ergonomics and good value of a Minolta camera.... so there....
