Question: RAW is different from JPG view (D70s + ELP)

Using D70s with ELP mod, always shoot at RAW + JPG under custom WB (leaf as reference)

IR-Problem.jpg

Left: JPG when opened in CS3
Right: RAW if opened in LR2 or CS3 (never changed any setting, WB "as shot").

I just couldn't get the correct blue tint view if I open it from RAW. Surprisingly, it appears to be blue tinted (as seen on JPG) when it was first imported into LR, but it just changed to this magenta tinted view when it's fully loaded.

I've tried to tweak the WB and tint value in LR, just couldn't get back the same thing as what I've seen when I open JPG... any solutions?

problem lies with the ACR cannot read canon's custom white balance in RAW i believe.

i sidestep this issue by doing a "auto color". it shld give u something close to what u need.

else, just open the raw in photoshop, use the set white point on the leaves, or grey point (cant remember which). it shld get u close to what u need

Szeping,

Use the ViewNX2 to convert your .NEF to .TIFF.
that will solve the prob. =)

I'm trying to get exactly the same as how I see it in JPG... any way to fix the ACR? btw, I'm using Nikon D70s.

Hey KT, yeap... problem can be solved by the method... but any other way to get it done using CS3 or LR?

nah ACR cannot be fixed. auto colour the image, will solve the problem.

open up the file in CS5, when the acr pops up, just select open image.

then go edit--> auto color.

it shld give u what ur camera gave u. else, use select gray point tool. works for me

try changing "tint" to -100
