I would said both are pretty good.. What i dun like about nikon 's is the lens creep. pretty loose after a while.. the sigma is tight like virgin:lovegrin:

I tested the Sigma lens for lens creep, disappointed to say, it happens too. Probably due to the weight of the lenses, but a zoom lock at 18mm provided, thus problem could be prevented, unlike the Nikon without any lock. :p

Hi everyone, Im buying this lens soon for its all-in-one versatility. What's the price for it now and where can i find the best deal? (shop that provides good service and all..)

Thanks

Try John 3:16. My vote for the best, friendliest service so far. They are located on the 5th floor of Funan Mall. I can't remember the price though.

Hi,

2 sample shots from Paragon, using this lens.

Hi,

The pictures were shot in JPEG, straight of the SDHC card directly to web-site, no PP.

I happened to be one of those too lazy and know nuts about PP.

Thanks for looking.

I saw on Amazon the same lens going for USD361+, do you think it is a worth it to buy from Amazon? After taking into consideration shipping charges and GST, it will come out to around SGD625 (depending on exchange rates) and it comes with a free Tiffen UV filter if purchase by Jan 2009. Have confirmed with Sigma Singapore that all lens comes with International Warranty (they replied via email) but locally comes with 12 months' extended warranty. What is the current price for this lens in Singapore?

Hi,

I bought mine like 4 months back, price then was around SG$ 780. Your price of USD 361 is indeed very good, just make sure you are right about the warranty issue.

Yeah...I read about how Sigma Singapore say one thing now, than another later. Maybe I will print out and archive the email so can use as prove...then again, they can say policy changes...

Hi Mate,

I may asking the similar question again, hope ur don't mind,

There been some review on the HSM is not applicable to Canon, meant for Nikon? is that true ?

Is abit funny if HSM they don't match but yet Sigma coming it with Canon mount:think:

Or should i go for Sigma 18-200 OS instead? price differ ab ~ $150 after compare it.

Any one experience it or any comment/suggestion?

Pls help,
Thanks

Mate,

Indeed, the "Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3 OS" is Sigma's official designation for this lens, only for the Nikon mount that is known as the "Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3 OS/HSM", thus there's a reason why an "/" sign is used instead.

From Sigma's website, if you observed on this page:
http://www.sigma-photo.co.jp/english/lens/digital/18_200_35_63_os.htm

Look under the left boxes, and look for the corresponding mount, you'll see as such:
Corresponding AF Mounts
SIGMA,
CANON [18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS]

NIKON (D) [18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM]

The Canon mount only comes with Micro motor for AF drive. As in my earlier post, I have played with it before, it is still quite fast in AF, but comes with some noise.

If comparing with the latest Canon EF-S 18-200 f3.5-5.6 IS, also does not come with USM motor drive, if that is any consolation.

Good luck in your search for a suitable lens.

Thank you for your comments.

If you are looking at this lens, have you gotten a look at the Canon EF-S 18-200 f3.5~5.6 IS?

From my causal observation, I reckon the Canon's design is very similar to the Sigma, performance should be also very similar.

Good luck to your search for your super-zoom.

hi, so which lens did you get?
understand that the sigma lens is close to 700, tamron 18-270 is around 900, not sure about the canon 18-200

anyone bought the lens recently?

thanks

Hi all.

I'm currently looking in to buy a 3rd party lens, anyway this is my 1st time buying a lens, I'm a new user. and really fascinated with this sigma 18-200mm. Have read thru alot of review from all website and also u ppl here, and seems like its a gd deal. but if i have $$ i will go for Canon itself.I need a lens that where i don't need to change it frequently unless i really need it. But, I have 1 questions.

If i really bought this lens(sigma 18-200), and sueh-seuh 1 day it spoilt. Where should i go to send for repair.?? Can somebody advise me on this.
That is what i was thinking now in my mind, how if it spoilt.

Advise me guys. Thanks

Like I said, I bought mine close $800. I think the price of the Canon mount would be close.

Hi, normally if the lens breaks down within the first 7 days, you can bring it back to the shop for 1-to-1 exchange. After the first 7 days, you will bring it back to the "importer" for repair.

Well well, until now I'm still:heart:this lens, its sooo:thumbsup:that I can keep shooting &/or zoom at any focal-range whenever :bigeyes:photo-opportunities arise, without changing lens from bag & worry of wind/dust(possiblity of cost incurr & hassle mah if send in for cleaning) & vip of if dropping of lenses(possiblity of cost incurr mah if dropped).
May refer to my flickr if need some samples of 18-200, as well as G7 too(hopefully not to late for your queries=cos already weeks ago liao:bsmilie:).
Oops, just realised I'm refering to the Non-HSM version but is DC-OS version cos mine is Canon-mount...sori...
