Question on: B&H + UPS worldwide saver charges

I have been looking thru information across the net but seems like i couldnt get an upfront answer.. i hope someone can breakdown and calculate the charges for the benefit of those who are interested to purchase from B&H(including me:bsmilie

lets say i would like to buy a 430EXII which costs 270USD(stated currency = USD i supposed), what are the charges that are going to be added on top of that. How much do i have to pay in total?

GST charges are simple to calculate. As long as the total price (including shipping) isn't above S$400 you don't have to add GST.

oh... then lets say they put a price of $270, but theres a rebate till $240.

so its $240 + $40.65(UPS worldwide saver) = $280.65 = S$364.85.

thats all i have to pay in total?

what if i pay thru paypal? will there be other charges?

Just use their shipping calculator if you want it sent direct to Singapore. Very expensive. Prices listed below for the flash you want:
UPS Worldwide Saver $40.65 (3-5 Business Days Delivery)
FedEx Priority $86.50 (3-5 Business Day Delivery)
International Express Mail $65.00 (5-7 Days Delivery)
International Priority Mail $54.50 (10-14 Days Delivery)

I suggest that you use Vpost. B&H can send to Vpost USA for as little as USD$6.15 and Vpost will charge about SGD$20-30 to send it here. Can save a bit this way and it'll only take about 7-10 days. Can consider. Also consider getting the flash locally, can save a lot of trouble. Check the pricelist section.

From what I know, Singapore charges GST only for packages worth more then SGD$400, so you should be able to dodge it...

p/s: all the above info can be found online... takes you 5 minutes max.

no extra charges thru paypal. Info can be found on B&H help section>payments. It lists all the payment channels, etc

Yes. its worth it cost it saves you nearly $100. Go for it.

the rebate this time around is an instant rebate so it applies to the net amount paid immediately. previously, you have to send in a rebate form and wait 3 months to get a cheque. although canon said the rebate is for us residents, B&H doesn't care and will apply it across all orders even overseas ones. I got my $200 rebate on a canon 85L in May so I am quite sure.

Quick, current instant rebate programme ending 11 July! I just got a new lens with USD100 rebate... USD vs SGD not that bad either.

Yeah better hurry. This is the once a year rebate Canon USA is running. Some how, this year, Canon Canada didn't even bother to offer the rebate. Perhaps economy is really bad and even rebate is not going to have any great effect on sales.
