Just an update. I've open up my cab for like 5min or so and
close it back. now the RH is at 45% constantly now. My setting
is at 10ish.

Just a small update.
I've tried wendy's method of opening and closing the cab.
left the door open for like 5min or so and then close back
the door (setting at 10ish all these time) now RH at 45%
and never dropped since.

Depending on the capacity, may be send it for repair is much cheaper.

mind if i ask all the dry cabinet owners here one questions?
what capacity cabinets do you own?

how much camera equip can a 60L cabinet hold?
can it at least hold approx
3 DSLR bodies...
3 zoom lens similar to size 70-200mm lens..
4-5 short lens similar sized to 28-75mm or wide lens like 10-22mm?
with enough space for at least 3 more lens?

if not what sized cabinet am i looking at to put all these and yet be able to have enough space for some upgrades?

It depends on how you pack your stuff in them, personally, I don't think you get all of them into the 60l cabi. See link for each cabinet and it external dimension (minus about 5cm in each direction for internal dimension). I would suggest a 100L if $ permit, you never know what else you may want to put inside it.

Digicabi Product List

I've 400l (2 cabi), I put coins, important paper work, stamps, crystals, optics (bino, telescope, cams, lenses, and cam's stuff) in them and use up most of the space.

I think U wun regret getting a bigger dry cabinet if $ and space permit. Other then camera stuff U can put others too...

I used to own 30L but I using 120L and I really find it useful.

cheers

Well, I have adked the Toyo Living guys, and guess what, they recommend the Digi- Cabi, much cheaper, better value.

Anyway, I have called Digi-Cabi for a replacement of my DHC-100, and this time they tested it first for several days before delivering to me.

Excellent, now it almost matches my digital hygrometer, 43 on the Digi-Cabi, 45 on my hygrometer. It does vary sometimes when door is opened (every day) / closed, but it jumps back quickly to the right setting of 45. Great !

Well, I can't ask for much at its price, and I can forgive the digital display, still wrong (or maybe they should just change their marketing pitch/sales talk to avoid questions). It goes 2++ rh below the Set value, and it is not supposed to if the manual is to be believed. At any rate, small issue. I hope it will last in its good performance of course.

At any rate, a separate digital hygrometer is still recommended, IMHO, to make sure measurements are all within tolerance.

Hi,
Where do you get a digital and analog hygrometer? and how much is it cost?

I bought it at Home Fix, the big branch near Cathay Photo at Marina Square. Several types, around sgd 35++ each ...

Thanks alot.
so you got a separate digital hygro? i thought if the digi cab 's display is areadly digital display ,won't it be better if the seperated hygro is a analog one?

No, analog is just not as accurate, IMHO.

The separate one is for peace of mind, for paranoid people like me :-). After all, these dry cabinets are "cheap" compared to industrial types like Toyo Living (used by Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc), quality thresholds are not the same, so a $35++ extra hygrometer is not such a bad thing to have, rather than $4k++ for a Toyo Living of the same size.

I've seen some cameras with some slight fungus or bad foams even if stored in dry cabinets (humidity still high), and very dry leather (humidity level must have been too low). So I'd like to avoid these ...

what RH level did you set? I set mine at 45%..
talk about fungus... i got it not at the lens.. but rather at the CMOS..

45 RH ...

Really ? Something is wrong then ... it may not even be the cabinet ... i.e. if there is fungus already before being placed in the cabinet

.

does anyone know for Akarui , who is the manufacture? any webby? where can i bring it to if spoil?

nono.. i mean i set my RH level at 45%.. but think when i open the door, it will jump to 50%..
About the fungus, it got before i bought the dig cabi..haha.. went to canon and clean.. I am luckly that they manage to clean it, if not changing the sensor will cost me $500..

I'm not sure whether anyone realizes that the hygrometers have a +/- 5% accuracty level? So your readings can be out both ways! Cab says 50% but it is 45%. The other meter reads 40% but it is actually 45%! But both are actually within acceptable levels.

To test, I actually got 2 digital meters and a Fluke industrial one (+/- 2%). You will be very surprised... ;p

I use this settings at it is 43 to 47 percent
