[ Query ] Oly EM5 with ???

I totally agree with you. I always tell my friends the same, never settle for second best if the best is within reach. Just hang on, save for another month and get the best that you feel is right for you.

A question for you though. Have you previously used the Panny 12-35mm? Any comments on it if you have?

Let me summarise... from an Olympus body-only user...

Haha.. yes yes im aware it being weatherproof means just water resistant and not water proof.. as for maintaining my equipment, i will always wipe my lens and body after coming back from travels, brush off the dust or use the rubber ball with a nozzle to blow dust away and then, back into my dry cabinet. not as stringent as your routine but i would have to say one should always strive for the standard that you have set to maintain the equipment at tip top condition. getting back to the lens, im going to rent both the lens and see how it performs (i know both will be head to head) but I guess it will be down to my budget and the size and wt of the lens..

Smart :) yeap, it's always a good thing to rent and try before committing. Glad u r clear to always just go for the one u want , even if it means saving up and holding back the purchase.

I'm sure u will find and settle on what u like.

Your words have inspired me.. leaning towards the 12-40Pro.. Thanx bro for your inputs.. You and Keith helped alot.

In terms of what one gets with the 12-40Pro, I think it is a better buy. Since you are building a lens collection from scratch, you can wait for the MZPro line. Next up is the 40-150Pro, then hopefully in a few weeks we will hear what Olympus will be releasing in the future... there will be a few lenses coming up... Exciting year ahead. Sad for the wallet.

I'm starting a one day 1 dollar into the piggy bank for the 40-150Pro ;)

My final aim is to have the 7-14/4 (or the UWA pro equivalent) , the 12-40Pro , 17/1.8 and the 40-150Pro.

No worries , it's always good to share so long as u don find us Lo Suo

True. Not forgetting to mention about wifes/gfs' dagger-stare too.

:bsmilie: easy solution, but then again...sad for the wallet...buy her something. :bsmilie:

Nowadays 2nd hand m4/3 lens price dropping at a very fast pace. Donno who is the market spoiler. I remember last time 25mm f1.4 at BnS is $750. Nowadays you can even find someone selling at $640 and below.

It's probably Amazon Japan's fault for selling the 25/1.4 as low as ¥42000 ;p

Then extra extra sad for our wallets too.;p

This calls for strategy... which as a married man I have to share mine.

It is called the "make her feel that if she cannot beat me, then join me" strategy.

She is the owner of a E-PL5 today. So whenever I buy lens, share share, can buy more. See? Needs strategy.

arrrggh... that's cruel .... but the 12-40's ability for 'macro' good enough for me le :bsmilie:

my wife belongs to the 'likes to be photographed' gang, so gotta adjust the strategy a bit.

If it is easy I will not be conducting on such courses for married men at US$20,000 per semester. (three months per semester).

Just kidding.

But remember one thing, your spouse would do anything to spend more time with you, if you only know how to find that balance. But sharing lenses and gear, you have to be careful.

same as what i shared :

its either :

(1) like to be photographed or ---> wow, i'm sure u will look even better with this camera I'm getting.
(2) like to photograph --> wow, I'm sure this upgrade will make your photos even better

:bsmilie:

k... u may start reading weird posts tonight as I'm pulling a 36 hrs marathon hackathon here haha

hiah... i seriously wana strangle this messiah guy. Because of him (and probably his minions), we had to rush thru a press briefing within 2 days as the ministry was getting 'uncomfortable' with the title of the event.

and ... what we r doing here is actually a coding event... for like minded kids to come together and write code/apps with an aim to plug gaps or bring improvements to the community.

It should be a Foreign Language School thing, what you guys are doing...

Let's speak in Binary... language of the nerds.

I am looking for someone to code for my UAV (Unmanned Aquatic Vehicle) project. Will talk to you on the side.

At the meantime, if you need rest, you rest. Take care bro.

What is the MZPro line? From Oly? so the 12-40Pro is not part of the MZPro line or it is?

The 12-40Pro is the first released lens from that line.

MZPro = Micro Zuiko Professional

Next in the line up is the 40-150mm (80-300mm) f2.8 constant aperture zoom. It is going to be a big thing, because when placed beside any 135mm format 300mm f2.8 lens, it will be microscopic!
